Role Summary

We are hiring a sharp, politically fluent Multimedia Reporter to report, chase, break and explain politics for 4PM News Network. This role is for a reporter who lives politics, understands political operating systems deeply (party structures, election machinery, policy, parliament, secretariat, bureaucracy, lobbying, power networks) and can convert this into daily video + desk copy + live hits digital output.

This is a front-line on-ground reporting role.

Key Responsibilities

  • daily on ground political reporting — Mumbai, Maharashtra and National beats
  • source building across parties / strategists / consultants / IAS / media ops / data teams
  • go live, front camera / standups / explainers / quick hits
  • ideate + pitch + script + write + VO own stories end-to-end
  • package content optimized for digital break formats
  • track narrative manipulation / data fraud / messaging engineering in political ecosystem
  • real time newsroom response to breaking political news
  • generate original exclusives, scoops, docs + leak based stories
  • collaborate with newsroom, video, research, graphics, social to push impact
  • ensure accuracy, compliance, legal safe reporting

Required Experience & Skills

  • 4–8 years political reporting / political journalism preferred
  • strong on-camera presence + writing clarity
  • deep grounding in real Indian politics (not meme / not influencer political takes)
  • understands election number science
  • strong sourcing and field reporting instinct
  • comfort with fast news cycles + long hours in election seasons
  • can handle pressure, ambiguity, high velocity decision making

Nice to Have

  • Hindi preferred
  • previous digital-first newsroom experience
  • previous election desk or party beat experience
