Role & responsibilities
- Operational Safety Management: Monitor and enforce safety compliance across all key operational stages, including brewing, fermentation, filtration, and packaging. Ensure all procedures adhere to established safety protocols and regulatory standards.
- Hazardous Materials & Chemical Safety: Supervise the safe handling, storage, and disposal of raw materials and hazardous chemicals. Conduct regular audits of chemical storage areas and ensure proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used.
- Permit-to-Work (PTW) System Administration: Administer and enforce the Permit-to-Work system for all high-risk tasks, including confined space entry, hot work, and work at height, ensuring all prerequisites are met before work commences.
- Inspection and Audits: Conduct routine and surprise inspections of utility systems (boilers, chillers, compressors) and other plant machinery to identify and rectify potential safety hazards.
- Chemical and Process Safety: Oversee cleaning and sanitation (CIP) activities with a specific focus on the safe handling and dilution of cleaning chemicals, and ensuring proper ventilation and spill containment measures are in place.
- Maintenance Safety Support: Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure all repair and maintenance activities are performed safely and in strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Training & Awareness Programs: Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs, including new-hire inductions, daily toolbox talks, and periodic emergency drills (e.g., fire, chemical spill, and evacuation drills) to build a proactive safety culture.
- Incident Investigation & Reporting: Lead the investigation of all safety incidents, accidents, and near misses. Document findings, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
- Contractor Safety Management: Ensure all external contractors and visitors comply with the site's EHS policies and procedures. Conduct contractor safety inductions and regularly monitor their work to ensure adherence to safety norms.
- Documentation and Legal Compliance: Maintain all safety-related documentation, including inspection reports, incident reports, training records, and compliance records for internal and external audits. Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory bodies as needed.
Required Educational Qualification:
- B.E./B.Tech with ADIS/PDIS (Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety / Post Diploma in Industrial Safety) from a recognized state board.
