About The Opportunity
Opportunity within the IT services and enterprise applications sector, focused on maintenance, enhancement and modernization of mission-critical IBM i (AS/400) applications that support banking, insurance, logistics and manufacturing clients. We operate delivery-focused application teams that balance legacy stability with incremental modernization.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain IBM i applications using RPG and CL to deliver stable, high-quality production releases on an on-site basis in India.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications, implementations and test cases for RPG/ILE and COBOL programs.
  • Debug and resolve production incidents, tune DB2 for i queries and optimize batch and interactive job performance.
  • Execute code migrations and refactors (RPG OPM to ILE, modularization), implement SQL-based DB2 changes and maintain version control workflows.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, QA and infrastructure teams to schedule deployments, run regression tests and support cutovers.
  • Produce technical documentation, unit test results and knowledge transfers; participate in code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have

  • Proven hands-on experience developing on IBM i / AS400 platforms using RPG IV and CLLE.
  • Strong knowledge of DB2 for i and SQL for query optimization and data modeling.
  • Experience with COBOL on IBM i and familiarity with batch job processing and scheduling.
  • Practical use of IBM i Access tools and command-line utilities for administration and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with ILE programming model, modularization and serviceability best practices.
  • Experience with source control and deployment processes (Git or equivalent) and IDEs such as RDi.

Preferred

  • Experience with LANSA or other 4GLs on IBM i.
  • Familiarity with modernization approaches (APIs, web services, JSON integration) for IBM i workloads.
  • Exposure to CI/CD tooling and automated test frameworks for legacy platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of professional experience working on IBM i / AS400 application development and support.
  • Available to work full-time on-site in India and engage directly with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
