We are seeking a Team Leader for our India based team. The individual we seek will take responsibility for the management and growth of a small multidisciplinary team, primarily specializing in Geospatial Analytics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Data Engineering. You will act as the primary interface between the stakeholders in the UK and the team in India. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data and analytics, with deep expertise in at least one of the key areas (Geospatial Analytics, GIS, or Data Engineering).

The Team Leader will provide strategic direction, technical leadership, and ensure that project outcomes align with business and analytical objectives. You will ensure a proactive approach to resource management, talent management, staff development and succession planning to meet the requirements for the ongoing development supporting and driving its future within the business.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse team of professionals in Geospatial Analytics, GIS, and Data Engineering.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment, focusing on both individual growth and team success.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and identify training opportunities to support career development.
  • Have demonstrable line management capability
  • Be willing to undertake periodic visits to the UK

Project Management & Delivery

  • Oversee the planning and execution of projects focused on Geospatial Analytics and Data Engineering.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, objectives, and deliverables, ensuring they align with business goals.
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality results, optimizing team workflows and processes where needed, within times and budgets agreed with the UK, minimum 40% project delivery.
  • Have a financial understanding of project delivery

Geospatial Analytics & Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical guidance in Geospatial Analytics, including spatial data modeling, analysis, and visualization.
  • Lead the integration of geospatial data with engineering workflows to extract insights and improve decision-making.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert in either Geospatial Analytics, GIS, or Data Engineering, with a working knowledge of the others.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of GIS solutions using tools such as ArcGIS, OpenLayers, and other geospatial analytics platforms.
  • Oversee data engineering efforts, including data pipeline development, ETL processes, and data integration from multiple sources into Azure-based cloud environments.
  • Develop and optimize spatial data models to support real-time analytics and geospatial visualizations.
  • Design, implement, and maintain data architecture for geospatial datasets, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security.
  • Implement machine learning and geospatial data analysis techniques to provide advanced insights, patterns, and predictions.
  • Support the team in solving complex geospatial and data engineering challenges, ensuring the use of best practices.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders to promote GIS-driven insights in business decision-making.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Deep expertise in Geospatial Analytics, GIS, or Data Engineering, with working knowledge of the other areas.
  • Proficiency in geospatial analysis tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, Open layers and programming languages like Python or R for spatial data manipulation.
  • Strong expertise in Azure cloud services, including Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, and Azure Data Factory.
  • Proficiency in data engineering languages such as SQL and Python.
  • Familiarity with data pipelines, cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure), and databases such as SQL Server.
  • Experience with geospatial data visualization, modelling, and machine learning techniques is a plus.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML applications in geospatial analytics.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.

Leadership & Soft Skills

  • Proven ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams through collaboration and Teamwork.
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in translating technical geospatial concepts into business-oriented insights with report writing expertise.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the UK team and the GCC, translating complex geospatial and data insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Present project updates, analytical findings, and reports to senior leadership, clients, or other stakeholders. Ensure alignment of team objectives with broader organizational goals and key business metrics.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geospatial Analytics, GIS, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • 15 + years of experience in a technical role, with a strong focus on geospatial data and analytics, GIS, or Data Engineering.
  • Proven experience managing or leading technical teams, especially in geospatial or data-focused projects.
  • Have the enthusiasm and energy to drive our growth strategy forward over the next 5 years in conjunction with our Head of PPA.
