Current Opportunity: Data Processing Specialist
Location: India
Remote or hybrid depending on proximity to our Bangalore office.
What you will do:
The Data Processing Specialist is responsible for sourcing, organizing, and maintaining provider information used in WPO's Locator tools across multiple regions. This includes coordinating with vendors to collect provider data (e.g., child care, elder care, schools, and specialty services), checking that records follow formatting guidelines, and helping with regular database updates.
The role requires strong data handling and organization skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to follow clear procedures. The position works closely with Product, Content, Reporting, and Technology teams to ensure the provider databases remain accurate, usable, and aligned with internal standards and requirements.
Responsibilities:
Data Sourcing and Vendor Oversight
- Lead the collection of provider data from trusted sources such as government websites, public records, and official licensing bodies.
- Provide clear step-by-step sourcing and formatting instructions to the vendor, including how to avoid duplicate records.
- Ensure that the data collected follows applicable regional licensing and regulatory requirements.
- Review provider datasets and correct formatting issues (e.g., address formats, labels, duplicate records).
- Merge datasets from vendors and internal sources, making sure duplicate entries are removed.
- Use lookup tools and geocoding resources (e.g., Geoapify, internal geocoding tool) to complete missing information such as postal codes or counties.
- Ensure data follows the Locator taxonomy and formatting standards.
- Prepare quarterly database updates and coordinate handoffs with the Reporting team for publishing on WPO platforms.
- Validate that publishing metrics (record counts by region/subtype) match source files.
- Flag anomalies or failures in the process.
- Maintain documentation for geocoding workflows, vendor instructions, and subtype standards.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
- Support audits, updates, and transitions related to service provider locators
- Bachelor's degree in a data, technology, or information science field.
- 2+ years in data operations, vendor management, or QA-related roles.
- Experience in database content curation, public data sourcing, or regulated information processing.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and familiarity with lookup formulas.
- Knowledge of geocoding tools, APIs, or GIS software is an asset.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Self-driven, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a cross-regional environment.
