Role & responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the tool room, including scheduling, production, and maintenance of tools.
  • Supervise a team of toolmakers, machinists, and technicians, providing guidance, training, and support.
  • Oversee the design, fabrication, repair, and modification of tools, jigs, and fixtures in sheet metal & plastic moulding.
  • Ensure all tooling meets quality standards and production requirements.
  • Coordinate with production and engineering teams to address tooling needs, modifications, and troubleshooting.
  • Implement and maintain preventive maintenance programs for tools and equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor inventory levels of tools, parts, and materials, ensuring adequate stock is available for production.
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols within the tool room, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and cost-efficiency.
  • Prepare and manage the tool room budget, including procurement of new equipment and materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of tooling maintenance, repairs, and modifications.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Proven experience in tool room management, tool making, or a similar role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of tooling, machining, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and CNC programming.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of quality control standards and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
  • Experience in the automotive, aerospace, or precision manufacturing industry.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems for inventory and maintenance management.
