Job Title: Senior Manager – Toolroom

Position Summary:

The Senior Manager – Toolroom will be responsible for leading the Toolroom function, ensuring precision and efficiency in the design, manufacturing, and maintenance of all tools, dies, and fixtures used in jewelry production. The role focuses on high-precision die making, progressive die development, and continuous improvement in tooling processes to support manufacturing excellence and product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage Toolroom operations to ensure timely availability and reliability of tools, dies, and fixtures.

• Plan, design, and supervise the development of dies, jigs, fixtures, and progressive dies used in jewelry manufacturing.

• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of tools and dies to maintain production continuity.

• Collaborate with Design, Production, and PD and NPD teams to develop effective tooling solutions for new product introductions.

• Ensure dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and quality consistency in all tooling activities.

• Drive process improvements, tool standardization, and cost optimization initiatives.

• Manage resource utilization, including manpower, machinery, consumables, and spares.

• Maintain technical drawings, tool design documentation, and maintenance records as per internal quality standards.

• Lead, train, and motivate Toolroom engineers and technicians to enhance technical capabilities.

• Ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and company procedures at all times.

Educational Qualification:

• Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) – Mechanical, Production, or Tool Engineering (or equivalent discipline).

Experience:

• 8–10 years of experience in Toolroom management within a precision manufacturing or luxury goods environment.

• Proven expertise in die making, progressive die design, and tool maintenance.

• Hands-on experience with CNC, VMC, EDM, Wire-Cut, and other high-precision machinery.

Key Skills and Competencies:

• Strong technical knowledge of tool and die design, materials, and machining processes.

• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for tool design and development.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities with an eye for detail.

• Strong leadership, team management, and project coordination skills.

• Effective communication, planning, and documentation abilities.

• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement practices.

Preferred Attributes:

• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and 5S methodologies.

• Experience in tooling for precious metals or fine jewelry components.

• Ability to handle complex, precision-based tooling projects within defined timelines.

1. Tool Life Optimization: Improvement in tool and die life through process control and preventive maintenance.

2. Lead Time Reduction: Timely delivery of new and serviced tools as per production requirements.

3. Rework and Scrap Rate: Reduction in rework, rejections, or scrap arising from tooling issues.

4. Tool Availability: Consistent availability of tools aligned with production schedules.

5. Cost Efficiency: Control of Toolroom operating costs through resource optimization.

6. Innovation and Upgradation: Implementation of new technologies and design improvements in tooling.

7. Team Development: Upskilling and training of Toolroom team members.

8. Quality Compliance: Conformance to dimensional accuracy and quality benchmarks.
