Key Responsibilities:

Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs (Bill of Materials) for mechanical parts and assemblies.

Estimate costs of materials, machining, fabrication, heat treatment, surface treatment, and assembly processes.

Develop detailed cost breakdowns, quotations, and proposals for customers or internal stakeholders.

Collaborate with design and production teams to optimize part designs for cost-effectiveness and manufacturability.

Collect, analyze, and maintain cost data for materials, vendors, and subcontractors.

Evaluate alternative manufacturing methods and suppliers to achieve cost savings.

Support sales and business development teams with accurate and timely cost estimates.

Conduct risk analysis on projects to identify cost drivers and potential overruns.

Assist in negotiation with vendors and subcontractors by providing cost insights.

Continuously update costing databases with new processes, technologies, and market price trends.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

2–5 years of experience in cost estimation, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering (varies by company).

Strong knowledge of machining, fabrication, forging, casting, welding, and assembly processes.

Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.) for reading/understanding designs.

Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and cost estimation tools.

Analytical thinking and strong mathematical skills for accurate cost calculations.

Good negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.

Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)

Experience in automotive, aerospace, heavy machinery, or manufacturing industries.

Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
