Role & responsibilities

1. Meticulous attention to details

Accuracy is paramount: Export documents, such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin, require extreme precision to avoid costly delays and legal complications.

Thorough verification: The ability to verify the accuracy of information, including product details, consignee information, tariff codes, and shipment details, is crucial to ensuring compliance with international regulations.

Minimizing errors: Even the slightest errors in documentation can lead to significant issues like delays in customs clearance or financial losses.

2. Strong communication skills

Effective communication with diverse stakeholders: Export documentation professionals must liaise with various stakeholders, including manufacturers, freight forwarders, customers, and customs officials.

Clear and precise information exchange: The ability to communicate information clearly and precisely, both verbally and in writing, is essential for smooth interactions and minimizing misunderstandings.

Stakeholder liaison: Coordinating with freight forwarders and customs brokers is crucial to facilitate smooth shipments and customs clearance.

3. In-depth knowledge of trade regulations

Understanding international trade laws: Export documentation experts need a strong understanding of export regulations, customs requirements, and international trade laws, such as Incoterms and free trade agreements.

Staying updated: Given the dynamic nature of international trade, it's essential for these professionals to stay abreast of changes in trade regulations and adapt documentation processes accordingly.

Compliance monitoring: Ensuring adherence to various trade regulations and customs requirements is a core responsibility.

4. Proficiency in technology and software

Familiarity with export documentation software: Expertise in tools like Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), export management software, or other relevant digital platforms is increasingly important for maintaining efficient workflows.

Microsoft Office Suite: Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and other office applications is generally a standard requirement for managing and organizing information.

Data management: Experience with data entry and record-keeping systems is also valuable.

5. Problem-solving and analytical skills
