Job Summary:
The Senior Team Lead – Charge Posting is responsible for managing the charge posting team and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant posting of medical charges. Implementing process updates to enhance operational efficiency and driving key performance indicators (KPI)
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Oversight
- Supervise and mentor charge posting staff.
- Allocate tasks, monitor productivity, and ensure quality standards.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching.
- Oversee accurate and timely posting of charges from EHRs and encounter forms.
- Validate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for compliance.
- Resolve discrepancies and escalate complex issues.
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA and payer-specific guidelines.
- Conduct regular audits to maintain accuracy and compliance.
- Implement corrective actions and process improvements.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive SOPs for charge posting workflows.
- Regularly review and update SOPs based on regulatory changes and operational needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align processes with best practices.
- Design and deliver training programs for new hires and existing staff.
- Conduct refresher sessions and skill enhancement workshops.
- Maintain training documentation and track staff competency.
- Coordinate with coding and AR teams to resolve charge-related issues.
- Communicate updates on payer policies and internal procedures.
- Generate productivity, accuracy, and compliance reports.
- Track KPIs and contribute to strategic planning and decision-making.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 5 years of experience in charge posting or medical billing in US healthcare and at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS coding and payer guidelines.
- Proficiency in billing software NextGen and Clearing House software Waystar Zirmed
- Excellent communication and team management skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
- Experience in SOP development and staff training.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills
- Certification in Medical Billing or RCM - optional
