About the Role

We are hiring a Senior Associate – Legal Partnerships & Business Development (Litigation Finance) to drive growth, origination, and strategic partnerships in the disputes funding ecosystem.

This is a hybrid legal-commercial role:

• You must understand legal concepts, disputes, IBC and arbitration environments.

• You must be confident in outreach, pitching, and relationship-building with senior stakeholders.

• You will work closely with founders, legal, and investments teams to build a strong pipeline of funding opportunities and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

1. Origination & Business Development

·      Identify and originate potential funding opportunities in commercial litigation, domestic & international arbitration, insolvency and bankruptcy (IBC), and enforcement & recovery portfolios.

·      Build, nurture, and manage relationships with law firms & chambers, independent counsels, arbitrators, insolvency professionals, corporates, funds, and enterprises with high-value claims.

·      Drive focused outreach campaigns and meetings to generate qualified deal flow.

1. Legal & Commercial Evaluation

·      Conduct preliminary assessment of opportunities: nature and strength of claim, documentation, jurisdiction & enforceability, counterparty profile and quantum.

·      Prepare internal notes, briefs, and summaries for legal and investment teams.

·      Understand and clearly communicate non-recourse funding structures, term sheets, returns, risk-sharing mechanisms, and compliance/ethical considerations in third-party funding.

1. Partnerships & Ecosystem Building

·      Build strategic alliances with disputes and arbitration practices, insolvency and restructuring partners, and international funders & legal service providers.

·      Explore co-funding, syndication, and cross-border collaboration opportunities.

·      Represent LegalPay at industry events, conferences, and roundtables to strengthen brand and category presence.

1. Communication, Pitching & Representation

·      Deliver structured and confident presentations to partners, GCs, promoters, and funders.

·      Collaborate on pitch decks, proposals, case studies, and product notes.

·      Act as a credible subject-matter interface—balancing legal depth with commercial clarity.

1. Reporting, Market Intelligence & Strategy Support

·      Maintain an accurate, structured pipeline (CRM / tracker) with opportunity status, size, stage, and next actions.

·      Share regular MIS with leadership on outreach performance, conversions, and forecasted deployments.

·      Track trends in litigation funding, IBC & enforcement, and alternative investments / special situations, and feed insights into strategy.

Ideal Candidates

Education

·      LLB / LLM preferred.

·      Candidates with Commerce / Finance / Business background plus strong exposure to disputes / IBC / investments may be considered.

Experience

·      2–3 years in business development / partnerships in disputes/arbitration-focused law firms, litigation finance, special situations, AIF, investment banking, or in-house legal / disputes roles with client-facing or transaction-facing responsibilities.

Must-Haves

·      Familiarity with commercial litigation & arbitration lifecycle, IBC / insolvency framework, and enforcement mechanisms.

·      Ability to read and interpret contracts, dispute documents, and commercial terms.

·      Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

·      Comfort working in a high-ownership, fast-paced, deal-driven environment.

·      Structured, detail-oriented, proactive, and strong on execution discipline.
