Job Description – Head of Rail & Business Development

Position Overview

Looking for an experienced and dynamic Head of Rail & Business Development
to lead our Rail Operations and drive Business Growth. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end rail operations, handling key client accounts, ensuring operational excellence, and expanding business opportunities in the logistics domain.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

  • Lead and manage the
    entire rail division
    (end-to-end operations).
  • Supervise a team of
    4–5 operations staff
    .
  • Ensure smooth coordination between rail operations, customers, and internal teams.

Key Account Management (KAM)

  • Handle and maintain relationships with major clients:
  • KIA, Mahindra, Hyundai, Renault
    , and other automotive customers.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and timely resolution of queries.

Business Development

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in rail logistics.
  • Work closely with management to diversify into new logistics verticals.
  • Prepare business proposals, quotations, and commercial documentation.

Liasioning & Coordination

  • Liasioning with clients, railway officials, vendors, and third-party partners.
  • Ensure proper documentation, billing, tracking, and operational compliance.

Accountability & Ownership

  • Take full ownership of operations, performance, and client deliverables.
  • Monitor KPIs, performance reports, and cost efficiency.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong experience in
    rail logistics (preferably car carrier operations)
    .
  • Good exposure to
    road logistics or niche logistics verticals
    .
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong PR, relationship-building, and negotiation capabilities.
  • Proven team-leading skills with ownership & accountability.
  • High enthusiasm for diversification and business growth.

Experience

  • 5 to 7 years
    of total experience in logistics, rail operations, or business development.
