The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Staff Engineer to join our Product Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have deep, hands-on experience building and scaling complex software systems from scratch and a strong product mindset.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and deliver robust, scalable, and user-centric product features end-to-end - from ideation and architecture to deployment and monitoring.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate business goals into elegant and maintainable technical solutions.
• Architect and implement backend systems that power collaboration experiences across Postman's ecosystem, ensuring performance, reliability, and seamless integration with other core systems.
• Work on distributed systems that handle high throughput and low-latency workloads, enabling millions of developers to collaborate on APIs globally.
• Drive innovation in areas like search, recommendations, and core product services by leveraging modern technologies and data-driven insights.
• Champion engineering excellence - setting best practices in system design, code quality, observability, and scalability.
• Mentor and guide engineers, helping them grow technically while raising the overall bar of the team.
• Influence product direction by bringing a strong product mindset - balancing technical trade-offs with customer impact and business value.

About You

• 9+ years of hands-on experience in software development, with proven end-to-end project ownership.
• Experience working in product-based technology companies, ideally with large-scale customer-facing systems.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, search and recommendation systems, or large-scale data-driven products.
• Expertise in one or more modern programming languages — Java, Go, Python, C++, or
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Experience with microservices architecture, REST APIs, and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.
