Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Proposal/Estimation Engineer to support our sales and engineering teams by preparing competitive and accurate proposals, technical quotations, and cost estimates for our team. This role requires a strong understanding of automation systems, control panels, PLCs, SCADA, and instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse RFQs (Request for Quotation), tender documents, and customer specifications to develop technical and commercial proposals.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, procurement, and project management teams to determine the optimal technical and financial solution.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates including equipment, software, engineering hours, subcontracts, and installation.
  • Generate technical and commercial proposal documents in compliance with customer requirements and internal standards.
  • Participate in customer meetings and presentations to explain and defend proposals when needed.
  • Maintain pricing databases, estimation tools, and historical project records to support accuracy and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain quotations for third-party equipment and services.
  • Evaluate and mitigate commercial and technical risks in proposals.
  • Ensure proposals meet industry standards, local regulations, and company policies.
  • Support the transition of awarded projects to the execution phase by briefing project managers and engineers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in proposal, estimation, or engineering roles within the automation or industrial control systems sector.
  • Strong technical knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, VFDs, industrial networks, and instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in reading P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control panel drawings.
  • Familiarity with automation platforms (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider Electric, ABB, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Experience with cost estimation tools, AutoCAD, and MS Office suite (especially Excel).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
