Roles & Responsibilities of an Accounts Officer

  1. Financial Management

  2. Maintain accurate records of financial transactions (purchase, sales, journal entries, petty cash).

  3. Monitor accounts payable and receivable.

  4. Prepare and process invoices, bills, and receipts.

  5. Accounting & Reporting

  6. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

  7. Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  8. Perform bank reconciliations and vendor reconciliations.

  9. Track expenses and revenues for budgeting purposes.

  10. Taxation & Compliance

  11. Handle GST, TDS, and other statutory requirements.

  12. Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documents.

  13. Maintain proper records for taxation and compliance.

  14. Payroll & Vendor Management

  15. Support payroll preparation and salary disbursements.

  16. Maintain vendor documentation and manage vendor payments.

  17. Negotiate and verify vendor bills.

  18. Internal Controls & Process Improvement

  19. Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.

  20. Ensure proper documentation and approval for all transactions.

  21. Suggest improvements in financial systems and controls.

  22. Support to Management

  23. Assist in budget preparation and financial planning.

  24. Provide management with financial insights for decision-making.
  25. Coordinate with auditors, banks, and external stakeholders.
