Role Overview:
PhonePe is looking for an exceptional Brand Activation Manager to own our social media voice and spearhead our digital-first brand strategy. We are seeking a strategic brand marketing professional, ideally with a Tier-1 MBA, who understands how to build a beloved brand from the ground up (0 → 1). You will be responsible for translating business goals into compelling social campaigns that spark conversation, create cultural relevance, and lead the social media chatter in the digital payments and fintech space. This is a high-impact role for a creative leader who thrives on building brand love in a fast-paced, digital-native environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Brand & Activation Strategy:
  • Architect and execute the 0→1 social media strategy, establishing PhonePe as a category-defining brand with high recall and positive sentiment.
  • Design and launch buzzworthy, integrated brand activation campaigns across platforms (LinkedIn, X, Instagram, YouTube) that drive both brand metrics and business impact.
  • Lead our influencer and creator marketing engine, building authentic partnerships that generate credible conversations at scale.
  • Lead the Social Chatter:
  • Act as the primary voice of the brand in online conversations, proactively engaging in relevant discussions and hijacking cultural moments to drive brand chatter.
  • Develop a robust social listening framework to monitor brand health, track competitor activity, and identify emerging narrative opportunities.
  • Craft a distinct, witty, and authoritative brand personality that makes PhonePe a go-to voice in the world of digital payments.
  • Operational Excellence:
  • Establish and scale the processes, workflows, and measurement frameworks required for a high-performing social media function.
  • Manage agency partners and content creators, setting a high bar for creative output and ensuring flawless execution.
  • Own the social activation calendar and associated budgets, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
  • Data-Driven Brand Building:
  • Define the KPIs for brand health on social media, moving beyond vanity metrics to measure share of voice, sentiment, and audience engagement.
  • Use data to continuously refine the content strategy, campaign approach, and platform mix to maximize impact.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: An MBA from a Tier 1 institution is preferred.
  • Experience: 6-8 years of post-MBA experience in brand marketing, gained within a leading digital-first consumer company (e.g., D2C, tech, fintech).
  • Proven Social Expertise: You have a demonstrated track record of leading social media strategy for a major brand, with a portfolio of successful campaigns that have generated significant online conversation.
  • Strategic Brand Thinker: You possess a classic brand marketer's mindset with a modern, digital-first execution skillset. You can translate deep consumer insights into breakthrough creative strategies.
  • Culturally Astute: You have a finger on the pulse of internet culture, trends, and conversations, and you know how to make a brand a relevant part of them.
  • Exceptional Communicator: You are a gifted copywriter and storyteller who can articulate a brand's position with clarity and creativity.
  • Analytical Acumen: You are comfortable with data and analytics and can connect social media performance to broader business objectives.
