Senior QA Automation Engineer – ETL / Data Pipeline Testing

Location: Bangalore, India (Hybrid preferred)

Experience: 6–10 years

Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on Senior QA Automation Engineer with strong experience in ETL, Data Warehouse, and Data Pipeline Testing.

The ideal candidate has proven expertise validating large-scale data flows across on-prem and cloud (GCP/AWS/Azure) environments, designing automation frameworks using Python or Java, and integrating with CI/CD tools like Jenkins.

You'll collaborate closely with data engineers and DevOps teams to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability across every stage of ingestion, transformation, and reporting.

Mandatory Skills

ETL / Data Warehouse Testing: End-to-end validation from source to target, including data transformation, mapping, and reconciliation.

Data Lake / Data Pipeline Testing: Hands-on experience validating data ingestion and transformation in cloud platforms (e.g., GCP BigQuery, AWS S3/Athena, Azure Synapse).

Automation Scripting: Strong programming experience in Python (preferred) or Java for automation of data validation and API testing.

SQL Expertise: Complex queries, joins, aggregations, and performance optimization for large datasets.

CI/CD & Scheduling: Experience creating Jenkins pipelines, Cron jobs, and integrating automated test runs with build/deploy cycles.

Data Comparison Frameworks: Ability to handle large-volume file comparisons (millions of records) efficiently using hashing, checksum, or pandas-based methods.

API Testing: REST or GraphQL API validation, including data contract and payload testing.

Error & Exception Handling: Designing resilient test scripts with robust exception and logging frameworks.

Good-to-Have Skills

Familiarity with Playwright or Selenium for light UI validations.

Knowledge of Great Expectations or equivalent data-quality frameworks.

Exposure to PySpark or distributed validation frameworks for high-volume datasets.

Understanding of DataOps, ETL orchestration tools (Airflow, NiFi), or containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).

Experience testing Power BI or Tableau dashboards.

Basic cloud resource management in GCP / AWS / Azure.

Soft Skills & Mindset

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proactive ownership of validation workflows and defect triage.

Excellent communication — ability to work directly with onshore leads and stakeholders.

Self-driven, curious, and adaptable to modern data-engineering ecosystems.
