The Manager Estimation will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for tenders, proposals, and ongoing projects. The role involves analyzing drawings, BOQs, specifications, and tender documents, coordinating with engineering, procurement, and planning teams, and preparing competitive bids. The Manager Estimation ensures that estimates reflect realistic costs, risks, and timelines while meeting organizational and client requirements.

Role & responsibilities

1. Tendering & Estimation

  • Analyse tender documents, drawings, BOQs, and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates.
  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for civil, structural, architectural, and MEP works as required.
  • Develop cost breakdowns covering materials, labor, equipment, subcontracting, and overheads.
  • Support the preparation of technical and commercial bid submissions.
  • Review project risks, assumptions, and exclusions during the estimation process.

2. Market Analysis & Vendor Coordination

  • Obtain material and service quotations from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals for accuracy, compliance, and competitiveness.
  • Keep updated records of market rates, material prices, and construction cost indices.
  • Build and maintain a reliable database of suppliers and subcontractors.

3. Coordination & Support

  • Work closely with planning, procurement, and project management teams for accurate project costing.
  • Provide cost-related inputs during value engineering and project design stages.
  • Support post-tender negotiations with clients and consultants.
  • Assist in preparation of budgets, cash flows, and cost-to-complete reports.

4. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain systematic records of cost estimates, assumptions, and vendor quotations.
  • Prepare estimation reports and summaries for management decision-making.
  • Update cost databases and historical data to improve accuracy of future estimates.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, standards, and client requirements.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering / Quantity Surveying / Construction Management.
  • Experience: 812 years of relevant experience in estimation and tendering within construction consultancy, contracting, or real estate.
  • Exposure: Residential, Commercial, Institutional, or Infrastructure Projects
  • Proven experience in preparing estimates for medium to large-scale projects.
  • Knowledge of FIDIC contracts, international codes, and project procurement practices preferred.
  • Exposure to both pre-contract (estimation, tendering) and post-contract (cost monitoring) activities is an advantage.
  • Accuracy of cost estimates vs. actual project costs.
  • Timeliness and quality of bid submissions.
  • Success rate of tenders and proposals won.
  • Effectiveness of vendor and subcontractor cost management.
  • Contribution to cost savings through value engineering and market analysis.
