AGM/Senior Manager for Letters of Credit (LC) oversees the entire trade finance lifecycle, specializing in the issuance, advising, and management of LCs. They are responsible for leading a team, mitigating risk, and ensuring compliance.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Trade finance management: Manage and process a portfolio of complex commercial and standby Letters of Credit, including issuance, amendments, and advising.
  • Team leadership: Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of 5-10 persons.
  • Compliance and policy enforcement: Ensure all trade finance activities comply with internal credit policies, government sanctions and banking rules.
  • Risk mitigation: Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues to minimize financial and operational risk.
  • Process improvement: Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the overall LC process.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with other departments, including Purchase, sales, legal, compliance, and risk, to achieve business objectives.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Education: MBA/CA Inter/bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is typically required. A master's degree or professional certification.
  • Experience: Candidates need 1220 years of experience in trade finance, with a strong background in commercial and standby letters of credit. Prior leadership or supervisory experience is essential.
  • Analytical skills: The ability to review and interpret complex financial and legal documents with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Leadership skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, manage performance, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to negotiate with clients, communicate with internal teams, and write clear reports.
