Role Objective
To lead the end-to-end pre-opening and conversion process of the resort, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to brand standards, and seamless transition from project to operations. The GM will act as the primary liaison between ownership, corporate teams, consultants, and vendors, driving operational readiness and guest experience excellence from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Pre-Opening Management
- Oversee all aspects of the resorts pre-opening, including design approvals, construction progress, and operational readiness.
- Coordinate with architects, interior designers, consultants, and ownership to ensure brand standards are implemented.
- Develop detailed pre-opening timelines, budgets, and resource plans.
- Conduct site inspections, monitor project risks, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
- Ensure smooth handover from project to operations.
Operational Readiness
- Recruit, train, and mentor the resort's leadership and operational teams.
- Establish SOPs for housekeeping, front office, F&B, engineering, and guest services.
- Set up vendor contracts, procurement processes, and service agreements.
- Implement technology systems (Opera, Fidelio, Micros, Protel, Touch) for seamless operations.
Design & Brand Standards
- Review and approve architectural layouts, interior design, FF&E, art, and landscaping to align with brand narrative.
- Conduct Project Improvement Plan (PIP) inspections and ensure compliance with brand equity.
- Customize design and operational standards to suit local market and resort positioning.
Administration & Budgeting
- Manage pre-opening budgets, procurement, and vendor negotiations.
- Ensure cost efficiency while maintaining quality and brand standards.
- Track financial performance against approved budgets.
Stakeholder & Owner Relations
- Act as the single point of contact between ownership, corporate office, and external partners.
- Provide regular reports on project progress, risks, and solutions.
- Build strong relationships with owners and ensure alignment with brand vision.
Leadership & Culture
- Drive a culture of excellence, guest-centricity, and accountability.
- Lead cross-functional teams to deliver operational readiness and service excellence.
- Mentor department heads to ensure long-term sustainability of resort operations.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Proven expertise in hotel pre-openings, conversions, and renovations.
- Strong knowledge of hotel design, project management, and housekeeping operations.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multi-location projects and deliver under tight timelines.
- Proficiency in hotel systems (Opera, Fidelio, Micros, Protel, Touch).
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma/Degree in Hotel Management or related field.
- 20+ years of experience in hospitality, with significant exposure to pre-opening and project management.
- Track record of successfully opening large-scale hotels/resorts (40+ properties).
- Award-winning housekeeping and operational excellence credentials (e.g., Hotelier India Award – Housekeeper of the Year).
