Job Title: Nutanix Operations Engineer

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Nutanix Operations Engineer to manage, maintain, and optimize Nutanix hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) environments. The candidate will be responsible for day-to-day operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring high availability of critical enterprise workloads running on Nutanix clusters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and administer Nutanix clusters (AOS, AHV, Prism Central, Prism Element).

  • Perform daily health checks, capacity monitoring, and performance tuning.

  • Manage VM lifecycle operations (provisioning, scaling, migration, decommissioning).

  • Execute patching, upgrades, and firmware updates across Nutanix infrastructure.

  • Handle incident management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.

  • Maintain and support storage, compute, and networking configurations within Nutanix.

  • Implement and monitor disaster recovery and data protection solutions (Nutanix Leap, NearSync, Metro Availability).

  • Work with backup and recovery tools (Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik integrated with Nutanix).

  • Automate routine operational tasks using scripts or orchestration tools (PowerShell, Ansible, cloud-init).

  • Maintain documentation, SOPs, and runbooks for daily operations.

  • Collaborate with vendors (Nutanix Support) for escalation and resolution of complex issues.

  • Ensure security compliance, patch management, and audit readiness of Nutanix environments.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 36 years of experience in IT infrastructure operations (virtualization, storage, or HCI).

  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Nutanix AOS, AHV, and Prism.

  • Experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V (cross-platform knowledge is a plus).

  • Good understanding of storage (iSCSI, NFS, SMB, snapshots, replication).

  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of networking (VLANs, IP management, routing).

  • Familiarity with Windows Server and Linux administration.

  • Scripting experience with PowerShell, Python, or Ansible.

  • Exposure to cloud integrations (Nutanix NC2 on Azure/AWS) is desirable.

  • Certifications such as NCP-MCI (Nutanix Certified Professional – Multicloud Infrastructure) preferred.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

  • Good communication and documentation abilities.

  • Ability to work in 24/7 support or shift operations environment (if required).

  • Proactive approach to monitoring and preventing issues before they impact production.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with Nutanix Files, Objects, Era (DBaaS), or Flow (microsegmentation).

  • Experience supporting VDI solutions (Citrix, VMware Horizon, Nutanix Frame).

  • Knowledge of ITIL processes (incident, problem, change management).
