About the Role: Shape the Future of Workspace Design at Awfis

At Awfis our mission is to create inspiring and productive workspaces. We are at a pivotal moment in our evolution, and to lead the charge, we are building a brand new
Design Technology department
from the ground up.

We are looking for a visionary and technically astute design professional to be a foundational member of this new vertical. Reporting directly to the Senior Design Director, you will not just be joining a team; you will be instrumental in creating it. Your mission will be to revolutionise our design process, blending cutting-edge technology with creative excellence.

This is a unique opportunity to define how technology, automation, and AI will shape the future of Awfis's built environments.

What You'll Do:

• Pioneer our BIM Transition:
  Spearhead the company-wide adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM). You will lead the migration of our design processes into a fully integrated Revit environment, enhancing collaboration, efficiency, and design quality.
• Craft the Awfis BIM Playbook:
  Develop and implement our comprehensive BIM standards, project templates, and intelligent Revit families. You will be the architect of our digital design framework, ensuring consistency and excellence across all projects.
• Innovate & Automate:
  Go beyond standard BIM implementation. We want you to unleash your creativity to explore and implement automations within the BIM ecosystem. Whether through Dynamo, Python scripting, or other tools, your goal is to eliminate repetitive tasks and free up our designers to do what they do best: create.
• Integrate AI into our Design Workflow:
  Explore and pilot the use of emerging AI tools (like Gemini, ChatGPT, Midjourney, etc.) to augment our creative process, from conceptual design and spatial analysis to data-driven design decision-making.
• Champion Data-Driven Design:
  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to link our BIM models with data analytics platforms. You will help build dashboards that provide actionable insights, transforming project data into a strategic asset. You will leverage data harvested from our existing portfolio to better inform our current design standards.
• Mentor & Lead the Change:
  As a subject matter expert, you will guide and train our internal design teams, architects and consultants. You will be the go-to person for all things Design Technology, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

What You Bring to the Table:

• A Design Technologist at Heart:
  You have a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field, with 8+ years of experience where you've lived at the intersection of design and technology.
• Revit Mastery:
  You are a true Revit expert. Your experience goes deep into template creation, complex family modeling, and establishing robust workflows for large-scale projects.
• An Automation Expertise:
  You have proven experience or a strong passion for automating design processes using tools like Dynamo, Grasshopper, or scripting.
• AI Curiosity:
  You are actively exploring and understand the potential applications of generative AI and other AI tools within the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industry.
• Strategic Vision:
  You can see the big picture - how technology choices today will impact the company's design capabilities for years to come. You're skilled in process design and strategic implementation.
• Collaborative Spirit:
  You are an excellent communicator, capable of translating complex technical concepts to creative stakeholders and leading change across diverse teams.
