**Job Title**: College Reporter

Roles & Responsibilities:

- Conduct interviews with students, faculty, staff, and others to gather information for news stories.
- Investigate topics relevant to the campus community, including academic issues, student life, events, campus policies, and other topics of interest.
- Follow up on leads and tips provided by students or staff.
- Write clear, accurate, and engaging news articles for the college's newspaper, magazine, website, or other publications.
- Ensure articles are well-researched, fact-checked, and adhere to journalistic ethics and style guidelines.
- Edit articles for grammar, style, and accuracy before submission or publication.
- Attend and cover on-campus events such as lectures, performances, club activities, protests, sporting events, and student government meetings.
- Capture the essence of these events and report on their significance to the college community.
- Take photographs or videos to accompany news stories.
- Ensure photos and videos are of high quality, relevant, and properly captioned.
- Collaborate with other reporters or photographers when necessary.
- Keep up with the latest news, trends, and developments on campus.
- Monitor social media, college announcements, and other news sources to stay informed about potential story ideas.
- Work closely with editors, senior reporters, and other staff members to ensure high-quality and timely publication of stories.
- Participate in editorial meetings and contribute story ideas.
- Develop a strong network within the college community to uncover interesting stories and build sources.
- Engage with students, faculty, and staff to understand their concerns, ideas, and viewpoints.
- Ensure that all stories are written, edited, and submitted on time, in line with publication schedules.
- Balance reporting tasks with other academic responsibilities, managing time effectively.
- Share stories on social media platforms and other college communication channels to promote the content and engage the college community.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- **Strong Writing and Communication Skills**: The ability to write clear, concise, and compelling news stories and conduct effective interviews.
- **Research Skills**: Ability to gather accurate information from reliable sources and conduct investigations.
- **Attention to Detail**: Strong proofreading and editing skills to ensure accuracy and clarity in all written content.
- **Time Management**: Ability to juggle multiple assignments and meet deadlines while maintaining academic responsibilities.
- **Photography or Videography Skills**: Basic photography and video skills for covering events (optional, but a plus).
- **Curiosity and Initiative**: A natural curiosity and drive to seek out stories, ask questions, and dig deeper into various issues.
- **Adaptability**: Ability to write about a wide range of topics and adjust to the demands of different types of stories.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- **Experience**: Previous experience with writing for a college newspaper or blog is an advantage.
- **Familiarity with Journalism Tools**: Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), photo editing software (like Photoshop), and video editing tools (optional but helpful).
- **Social Media Savvy**: Ability to promote stories and engage with the college community via social media platforms.

**Work Environment**:

- College reporters typically work part-time and are based on campus, reporting from events, conducting interviews, and collaborating with editors and other staff members.
- The work environment is dynamic, with varying schedules depending on the academic calendar, publication deadlines, and event coverage.

**Job Types**: Full-time

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month

Working Days : Monday to Saturday (10:00 AM to 05:30 PM)
