**Brief Description about the Project**

The “Harmony” study is a 5-year research study conducted in collaboration between the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and St. John’s Research Institute (SJRI), Bangalore, funded by the US National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. The “Harmony” clinical trial study was designed to implement and evaluate a nurse-led behavioral intervention to reduce intimate partner violence (IPV) and alcohol use among low-income couples in Bangalore, using motivational interviewing and behavioral couple’s therapy

**Screening Assistant**

**Position Starting**:01st November 2024

**Employment status**:Contract

**Salary**: Rs. 23,000/- per month

**Preferred Qualifications**:Graduate in Social Work, Psychology or Social Science disciplines

**Language**:English, Kannada.

**Experience**: Minimum 1 year experience of working in a health care setting. Freshers are welcome to apply

**Roles and Responsibilities**:
**Core Responsibilities**:

- Visit Primary Health Centres / low-income communities within the catchment are the PHCs to screen potential participants and assess them for eligibility.
- Refer participants with psychiatric concerns, including suicidal ideation for further. Assessment and referral as per protocol.
- Refer women who require additional help due to IPV to appropriate resources as per protocol.
- Track, make follow up calls & schedule participants for baseline interviews.
- Maintain study logs that record conversations with participants.
- Specific tasks assigned based on skills and project needs

**Key Skills**:

- Experience in talking with clients or research participants about sensitive topics.
- Experience working in a research project is an advantage.
- Excellent verbal and written communication in Kannada and basic English skills.
- Experience working with domestic violence victims is a plus
- Solid time-management abilities with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal skills & a team player
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule.
- Ability to establish rapport and work effectively with individuals of different ethnicities, socio-economic status, caste, gender, and sexual orientation.
- Graduates in Social Work, Psychology or Humanities with community experience will be preferred.
- Willingness to travel to Primary Health Centres within Bangalore and work in flexible work hours.
