Introduction:
Developing the technical solutions for a business area that has true customer and colleague impact. Your contribution to architectural decisions will change their banking and working lives for the better through technical designs that are truly based on their experiences.

What will you be doing?
- As a AVP Solution Architect, you will own the architectural future of at least one technology platforms. Being the platform custodian, you will ensure that any developments align to the overall Barclays technology strategy.
- Ensure that solutions balance the delivery, technology and enterprise impacts and enable adherence of all resiliency, observability, supportability, security and operational readiness requirements.
- Engage and collaborate with various functions during the delivery lifecycle to ensure your vision becomes reality.
- You will be the technology expert to whom that business area trusts to realise their aspirations as to how they can best drive their business forward in helping our customers.
- You will challenge the status quo; things don’t change by themselves, so new thinking is welcomed and applauded. We need you to provide a fresh perspective that not only protects the brand but also continues with to keep technology at our heart.
- You will continuously collaborate with a team of like-minded architects, encouraging each other to find the right technology solutions for the business areas.

- Experienced in acting as the design authority for a project;
- Experienced in working with the design authority for a project and acting as architecture sign-off for project level component deliverables
- Able to estimate budgets for small to medium and projects;
- Can identify high-impact, sensitive situations or issues and escalate appropriately;
- Ensures governance, risk and control procedures are followed

Person Specification

We are looking for someone with real world architecture experience is essential with practical experience of defining enterprise wide technical solutions, documenting them and driving them to delivery.
- Experience in systems integration projects is a pre-requisite
- Able to drive technical solution throughout the project life cycle
- Able to demonstrate previous evidence of drive, energy, commitment, and enthusiasm

What we’re looking for:

- Extensive experience of shaping and defining solutions across disparate technologies that enable you to resolve complex business issues with simple and cost-effective technology-based solutions.
- A broad knowledge of technologies and architecture paradigms such as domain-driven, cell-based, hexagonal, and microservice.
- Experience of working with senior stakeholders to influence their thinking about what is possible through technology innovation.
- The ability to exhibit deep technical understanding conveyed through crisp solution design walkthroughs.

Skills that will help you in the role:

- Functional/Domain experience in financial services Banking/Cards/Loans.
- Ability to manage technical product selection process, scope & execute Tech spikes/PoCs.
- Application/Infrastructure/Enterprise Architect training and certification, e.g. TOGAF/AWS
- Hands-on experience in architecting cloud solutions (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Experience in identifying Threat Vectors across the cloud environment and designs associated security/controls.
