**Engineer (DBA - Postgres/MongoDB)**

**About this Job**:
We’re looking for a database administrator.The individual in this role will be responsible for design, implementation and administration for our databases, as well as mentoring of lower level database administrators.

**Rationale**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Provide support for, Postgres, and MongoDB Atlas
- Adhere to change control procedures
- Implement and monitor activities - monitoring, backups, troubleshooting, security, user maintenance, reporting, migrations, upgrades, data copying, etc
- Architect database solutions to optimally meet business needs
- Shell scripting, stored procs, SQL, query tuning, etc
- Execute company initiatives in the database space
- Implement schema changes at direction of AppDev
- Disaster recovery and database restoration
- Recovery from backups
- Automation of routine tasks

**Qualifications**
- 2 or more years of applicable database experience
- Flexible work hours - willingness to work different shifts as needed and attend occasional calls outside of normal work hours.
- Some experience with at least one of PostgreSQL, and MongoDB Atlas. Willingness to learn the others
- Understanding of database system concepts - ACID properties, normal forms, backup and recovery mechanisms, DDL vs DML, transaction logging, log shipping, etc
- Basic understanding of cloud environments, preferably Azure and AWS
- Data warehouse experience
- A passion and energy for learning and improving. Willing to embrace change.
- Excellent English communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively interface across cross-functional technology teams and the business
- B.S. degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field strongly preferred
