They also manage the bakery section, ensuring quality, cleanliness, and efficiency. This role often involves developing new recipes, training staff, and maintaining inventory. Key Responsibilities:
- **Baking and Preparation**: Prepare a wide range of baked goods according to recipes or create new ones.
- **Quality Control**: Ensure baked goods are of high quality and meet standards.
- **Menu Development**: Develop new menu items and seasonal offerings.
- **Staff Supervision**: Train and supervise junior baking staff.
- **Inventory Management**: Monitor stock levels, order ingredients, and manage inventory.
- **Cleanliness and Organization**: Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- **Equipment Operation**: Operate and maintain baking equipment.
- **Collaboration**: Work with other chefs and management teams to coordinate operations.
- **Customer Interaction**: Meet with customers to discuss custom orders or preferences.
- **Record Keeping**: Maintain accurate records of production, costs, and inventory.
Specific Duties:
- Mixing, shaping, and proofing dough for various baked goods.
- Decorating pastries with icings, toppings, and other techniques.
- Creating and presenting plated desserts.
- Collaborating with other chefs to develop menus that complement the overall dining experience.
- Adhering to food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Staying up-to-date on the latest food and industry trends.
- Developing new recipes and techniques.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Troubleshooting problems and ensuring equipment is functioning properly.
- Assisting with inventory management and ordering supplies.
- Training and mentoring junior pastry chefs and bakers.
- Collaborating with other chefs to plan menus and organize events.
- Assisting with employee scheduling.
