Job description

Educating students and parents about colleges, the college admissions process, trends, procedures, and testing;
- Meeting with high school students, individually and in groups, to talk about process and individual college choices.
- Advising 9th and 10th graders on curricular choices, as needed
- Meeting with all college admissions representatives who visit our campus and organising information sessions for our students. The Career Counsellor also serves as a liaison with College admissions offices throughout the year.
- Compiling placements records for the year
- Working with Coordinators to maintain records on academic transcripts
- Writing an official school recommendation for students. Also coordinating with teachers for teachers recommendation letter. The Career Counselor also completes all School Report and mid-year report forms requested by colleges, including evaluations of students.
- Keeping track of admission decisions, statistics, and providing data to Principal.
- Orientation to parents, such as the career presentations to parents from 9th to 12th grade
- Being aware of issues and trends in college admission, higher education, testing, as well as keeping up-to-date about specific colleges and maintaining membership in professional organizations: the College Board, UCAS etc.
- Maintaining and disseminating information about standardized tests such as SAT, ACT, and TOEFL
- Maintaining & managing Alumni database
- Creating engagement platforms for the alumni
- Working with Marcom Team to create programs for Alumni & Former GIIS students
- Focusing on IVY Colleagues to place graduating studentsRoles and Responsibilities

Min 4-5 years' prior experience in career counselling role. Prior experience in educational institutions will be preferred
- Experience in college admissions or high school college counseling and understanding of admissions for educational systems around the world.
- Understanding of International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) preferred
- Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skill
- Ability to respond effectively to the needs of a demanding student and parent population
- Knowledge of colleges, their academic programs, admission policies, and financial policies and procedures
- Must have done Masters Degree in Psychology / Degree OR Diploma in Counselling
