Position Overview:
The Lab Intern will support laboratory operations and assist with various research and testing activities. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for hands-on experience in a professional lab setting, contributing to scientific research and development projects.

Key Responsibilities

1. **Laboratory Assistance**:

- Assist in setting up laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Prepare chemical solutions and reagents according to standard protocols.
- Conduct routine tests and experiments under supervision.

2. **Data Collection and Analysis**:

- Collect, record, and analyze experimental data accurately.
- Maintain detailed and organized lab notebooks and documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations based on experimental results.

3. **Sample Management**:

- Receive, label, and store samples properly to ensure integrity.
- Perform routine sample preparation, such as filtration, centrifugation, and pipetting.
- Ensure samples are disposed of safely following lab protocols.

4. **Quality Control**:

- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines.
- Conduct routine equipment calibration and maintenance checks.
- Report any discrepancies or equipment malfunctions to the lab supervisor.

5. **Research Support**:

- Assist with literature reviews and background research for ongoing projects.
- Participate in group meetings and contribute ideas for improving research methods.
- Support senior lab staff with special projects as needed.

6. **Laboratory Maintenance**:

- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Ensure all lab supplies are stocked and reorder as necessary.
- Assist in maintaining inventory records for lab equipment and consumables.

Qualifications:

- Currently pursuing a degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of laboratory techniques and safety procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Skills and Competencies:

- Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment and procedures.
- Ability to follow instructions and protocols accurately.
- Strong observational skills and ability to document findings meticulously.
- Time management skills to balance multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies.

Working Conditions:

- The internship is typically conducted in a laboratory environment.
- May require standing for extended periods and handling hazardous materials.
- Compliance with safety regulations and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
