We are building Green Operations of the future and engaging with our value chain partners on the same, in alignment with our long-term objective of building trust with the society and creating long-term value for ourselves, our suppliers and our patients. We are looking for experienced individuals with passion for environmental sustainability who would like to contribute and make a positive impact on this journey with our suppliers at Novartis.
- Assess current business practices across different sectors relevant for the pharmaceutical value chain, and monitor and explore emerging trends for innovating these practices from the ES perspective. Analyze suppliers’ environmental sustainability and governance data, assess suppliers’ maturity based on different maturity models and draw insights to inform internal decision-making and action planning, incl. risk management.
- Develop sustainability roadmaps with suppliers in alignment with Novartis ES commitments and suppliers’ ES strategies to drive focused action and to enable accelerated decarbonization and leading environmental sustainability practices. Review monitoring processes on regular basis to keep improving the quality and reliability of the monitoring as well as its effectiveness.
- Identify, review and prioritize actions implementing Novartis environmental sustainability strategy towards the supply chain in internal processes across relevant business and corporate functions. Engage with internal stakeholders on the implementation. Develop capacity building tools and trainings for suppliers to facilitate and accelerate their ES journey. Leverage Novartis expertise as well as wider industry expertise and sources.
- Help develop capacity building tools and trainings for internal stakeholders to enable and facilitate implementation of Novartis ES journey. Support general business process excellence initiatives considering both the long-term needs of the environmental sustainability function and the organization as a whole. Support ESG reporting activities according to the specific needs of each reporting exercise and the respective governance structure.
- Drive/ Coordinate/ Support the creation of any internal or external documentation pertaining to environmental sustainability according to defined specifications. Support the monitoring of evolving regulatory and voluntary frameworks on environmental sustainability practices, accounting, due diligence and other relevant aspects.
- Participate actively in assigned external industry fora and working groups (e.g. PSCI, PEG, WBCSD, SMI), share respective insights with internal stakeholders and coordinate with them any action based on the needs of the external engagements.

**Minimum requirements**

What you’ll bring to the role:

- Overall, more than 12 years’ experience out of which at least 8 years of direct experience with manufacturing or pharma industry. Working knowledge of multiple operational functions and principles.
- Good knowledge and understanding of Environment Sustainability frameworks and practices, managing third party vendors.
- 3yrs Experience in executing sustainability and compliance programs from ideation to execution, incl. working in multistakeholder environments seeking alignment from diverse partners.
- Working knowledge of developing and tracking KPIs with external partners. Proficient with data collection, data analysis and use of metrics for decision-making and planning.
- “Hands on” mindset and not afraid of breaking new grounds and going deep into technical details of ES topics. Highly adaptable to fast paced and rapidly changing work environment.
- Able to streamline and implement processes that create efficacy and efficiency, and support shifting business needs. Excellent organizational, planning, resource and global project management skills. Customer-facing experience and stakeholder management is an advantage. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to operate effectively in a global working environment.

Desirable:

- Bachelor degree, preferably in Chemistry, Engineering, or Environmental sustainability. Relevant practice required for other majors. Ideally complemented by Masters or MBA in management, information systems or sciences, or advanced industry experience.
