Data Steward

The Data Governance Company - is a consulting firm specializing in Data Governance and Data Management. We believe focused expertise is crucial for serving our clients effectively, distinguishing us from other analytics and data management firms. We are currently seeking to hire Data Stewards (Business, Technical, Domain, & Financial).

The Data Governance Data Steward role is responsible for ensuring the business and IT adhere to and maintain alignment to the Enterprise Data Governance's processes, rules and standards for in scope data. This role requires deep knowledge of the data requirements and business use as well as associated elements and processes involved.

**Responsibilities**:

- Execute standard policy for onboarding all in scope data into client's environments globally.
- Work with Data Ecosystem team to manage standards and ensure adherence
- Responsible for the promotion of data accuracy and adherence to client's defined data management and governance practices, as well as driving acceptance of client's enterprise data standards and policies across the various business segments and areas that utilize (formally and informally) enterprise data and information.
- Maintain and advise relevant stakeholders as appropriate on data governance related matters.
- Coordinate across the organization (with fellow Enterprise Data Stewards and the EDG leader; strategic initiatives, Digital Use Cases and the federated data network) to maintain consistency of client's critical enterprise, digital, operational and analytical data.
- Ensure data-centric activities are aligned with the EDG program and leverage applicable data standards, governance processes, and overall best practices.
- Demonstrate domain and/or business functional knowledge to enable validation of data requirements
- Identify Data Sources and partner with business and tech teams to address gaps; check joining of different data sources generates a meaningful final dataset for a particular use case
- Perform trend and/or pattern analysis
- Support Source to Target Mapping (STTM)
- Create data quality rules
- Provide guidance to tech teams on harmonization and standardization of disparate data sets
- Monitor data quality scorecards/reports and engage data owners to address exceptions and rule gap

**Qualifications / Requirements**:

- Strong data management background who understands data, how to ingest data, proper data use/consumption, data quality, and stewardship.
- Advanced Excel experience
- Basic SQL knowledge and experience working with Visualization BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, etc). DataBricks basics preferred
- Advanced data analytical skills, including identification, interpretation and documentation of data patterns, standards, and quality rules
- Strong communication skills and Excel proficiency, including experience profiling with Excel
- Experience researching, validating, profiling and cataloging datasets
- Ability to own sub-tasks of a project with little supervision.

**Competencies**:

- Highly motivated with ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated proficiency in using Excel to source, analyze, normalize and process data to define requirements for ongoing processing and management of the data including quality validations.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of master data elements and processes
- Strong data management background with understanding of how to ingest data, proper data use/consumption, data quality, and stewardship
- Functional and Domain Knowledge - Internal and External Data Assets
- Ability to translate business requirements into critical data dependencies and requirements
