**Job Description for Mediator**

As the **Mediator** at Jupitice Justice Technologies, should thoroughly investigate all precipitating factors, consult with clients via online platform to better understand the conflict at hand, and then host discussions that invariably lead to the implementation of client-driven solutions. You should also ensure that mediation remains respectful and engaging during every phase. As a mediator, he or she will be able to guide both parties in settling the issue and avoiding a full litigation process.

**Responsibilities**
- Review documents, contracts and other information related to conflicts
- Explaining how the mediation process works when meeting with new clients
- Use active listening techniques and effective questioning to uncover the facts and issues relevant to the conflict.
- Communicating with all involved parties to gather information and help the opposing parties work through their differences
- Allowing aggrieved parties the space to clarify their understanding of the disagreement.
- Presenting your understanding of the situation and requesting corrections, if needed.
- Interviewing everyone involved, including witnesses, and reviewing any documentation provided
- Sorting through the needs and concerns of both parties
- Scheduling meetings with involved parties to hold the negotiations
- Assisting parties in understanding applicable laws, precedents and other established guidelines
- Helping the parties find common ground and reach a solution that both can accept
- Completing paperwork regarding the mediation process for each case
- Re-engaging in discussions about the conflict if requested by clients

**Qualifications/Requirements**
- Bachelor's degree; a law degree may be required
- Knowledge of laws, guidelines and procedural matters
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including active listening
- Exceptional conflict resolution skills and creative solutions
- Track record of facilitating amicable conflict resolutions
- Strong verbal communication and containment skills
- Ability to address distortions in emotion and cognition
- Ability to maintain neutrality
- Willingness to uphold a code of conduct
- Strict protection of confidentiality

**Language Skills**
- Punjabi language is mandatory along with Hindi and English Language
- You need to communicate in person, on the phone with parties
- You need to establish trust and rapport, negotiate and facilitate discussions
