Introduction
The Product Owner will be responsible for the development of new products and enhancement, refinement and maintenance of existing product features and services along with core infrastructure, on the Next Generation Consumer Banking Platform. Managing a new team, the role will also involve building and documenting process flows, customer and colleague journeys. The role holder will work with UK Product Owners to develop and define the strategy and business requirements for the features the India team are accountable for, and work directly with the Product and Engineering teams to bridge the two, translating business outcomes into technical artefacts. The role holder will need to drive change, at pace, through Barclays execution teams, while being accountable for taking key product execution decisions that will have significant impact on delivery and associated outcomes for customers, colleagues, and the bank. With a strategic, long term focus, the role holder will guide their own and Barclays Execution teams to fully consider appropriate regulatory compliance, risk management and controls, ensuring work is delivered to a consistently excellent standard. This role and the role holders team will be co-located with the Tech team in our award winning Technology campus in Pune, India.

The Next Generation Consumer Banking programme spans all aspects of the customer lifecycle, from scheme to product set up, core customer journeys (onboarding, billing, pricing, repayments, transactions, supporting customers in financial difficulties) risk, fraud strategies, servicing and portfolio management.

What will you be doing?
- Next generation consumer banking platform is the platform for future, built with latest technology and software development methodology, to support multiple products ranging from unsecured borrowing, consumer loans, mortgages and with a long-term vision to support all core banking products.
- Leading a team and collocated with software engineering teams, this role will drive the vision of product agnostic platform forward.
- Impacting at a strategic level to define the vision and execution roadmaps for the features delivered through the India team, managing the backlog, prioritising needs to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
- Owning major feature delivery while overseeing a book of work delivered by team. Contributing to communicating the vision and progress of work across internal and client stakeholder groups.
- Ensuring and coaching a team to ensure a high bar is met on end-to-end user stories/requirements, documentation, process flows and technical development stages of the product, whilst driving excellent, measurable business and customer outcomes.
- As a senior ‘check and challenge’ function, you will work with Product and Engineering leads to evaluate product processes at each stage, using a deep understanding of regulatory requirements, associated controls, and MI to review and sign off testing.
- Build extensive business and technical knowledge of the features they will be responsible for, as well as a good understanding of the UK financial services industry and use this knowledge when developing products and services onto the Next Gen Platform.
- Technical understanding is sufficient to accurately interrogate and challenge technology plans, architectural vision, and recommendations for an upcoming product, feature, or bug resolution. Balances business expertise with technical understanding to learn about the systems, their constrains and reasons behind engineering’s product technology design.
- Manages major/large product features and critical incident response. Influences internal stakeholders and supports engineering team priorities. Creates clear and concise documentation (e.g., Functional specifications, user stories, presentations).
- Leverage partnerships with teams across Barclays to understand and optimise the technical and operational model to deliver good customer outcomes, efficiencies in the business and reduce the cost of operating the business.
- Advise and influence senior decision-makers using data, evaluative judgement and comprehensive understanding of the products and services within the team’s remit.
