**Structured hybrid role**:
Introduction
The Product Owner will be responsible for the development of new products and enhancement, refinement and maintenance of existing product features and services along with core infrastructure, on the Next Generation Consumer Banking Platform. This will also involve building and documenting process flows, customer and colleague journeys. The role holder will work with the UK Product Owner to understand the strategy and business requirements for the features they are accountable for, and work directly with the Technology and Engineering teams to translate business outcomes into technical artefacts. The role holder will need to drive change through Barclays execution teams, make key decisions in the product and customer lifecycle and own associated outcomes for customers, colleagues, and the bank, achieved through appropriate regulatory compliance, risk management and controls. The Product Owner will be co-located with the Tech team in India.

The Next Generation Consumer Banking programme spans all aspects of the customer lifecycle, from scheme to product set up, core customer journeys (onboarding, billing, pricing, repayments, transactions, supporting customers in financial difficulties) risk, fraud strategies, servicing and portfolio management.

What will you be doing?
- Next generation consumer banking platform is the platform for future, built with latest technology and software development methodology, to support multiple products ranging from unsecured borrowing, consumer loans, mortgages and with a long-term vision to support all core banking products. The Product Owner co-located with software engineering teams will be required to drive the vision of product agnostic platform forward
- Build extensive business and technical knowledge of the features they will be responsible for, as well as a good understanding of the UK financial services industry and use this knowledge when developing products and services onto the Next Gen Platform.
- Understand the vision and business requirements for the features owned, managing the backlog, prioritising needs, leading on defining end-to-end user stories/requirements, detailed process flows and leading on the technical development stages of the product, process and customer journeys owned, whilst driving good business and customer outcomes. Primary liaison with the engineers and technology teams, evaluates product processes at each stage, including deep understanding of regulatory requirements, associated controls, and MI, and review and sign of testing.
- The Product Owner will work closely with the Engineering teams and Technology to deliver the feature, agreeing on prioritises and the technology plan to deliver against the solution; provide a check and challenge on business requirements and the solution and defines technical requirements, working closely with developers. Holds engineering and technology teams accountable for delivery and challenges / identifies risks and blockers and mitigations
- Ability to interrogate specifications and solutions, with a forward-facing lens, ensuring that product builds meet current and future business demands, including ability to assess re-use components for future products on the platform to support the product agnostic principles.
- Technical understanding is sufficient to accurately assess technology plans, architectural vision, and recommendations for an upcoming product, feature, or bug resolution. Balances business expertise with technical understanding to learn about the systems, their constrains and reasons behind engineering’s product technology design.
- Work with engineering to fully scope features, issue remediation, customer and user experience, compliance, accessibility, and other requirements to prepare for delivery. Escalates appropriately.
- Manages product features and low-level incident response. Influences internal stakeholders and supports engineering team priorities. Creates clear and concise documentation (e.g., Functional specifications, user stories, presentations).
- Leverage partnerships with teams across Barclays to understand and optimise the technical and operational model to deliver good customer outcomes, efficiencies in the business and reduce the cost of operating the business.
