The General Ledger Accountant plays a pivotal role in the finance department, responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions, and facilitating month-end and year-end close processes. This position involves reconciling accounts, preparing journal entries, analyzing financial data, and supporting financial reporting requirements. The General Ledger Accountant collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls while providing insights to support decision-making.
**Responsibilities**:
- General Ledger Management:
- Maintain the general ledger system, including chart of accounts, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
- Review and analyze general ledger accounts to identify discrepancies and variances.
- Month-end and Year-end Close:
- Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of adjusting journal entries, accruals, and deferrals.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate any discrepancies.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements for management review.
- Financial Reporting:
- Support the preparation of financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Assist in the consolidation of financial data and preparation of financial disclosures.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards in financial reporting.
- Reconciliation and Analysis:
- Perform regular reconciliations of intercompany transactions, bank accounts, and other general ledger accounts.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial analysis.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify inefficiencies in general ledger processes and recommend solutions for improvement.
- Implement best practices and standardize procedures to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of general ledger accounting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and optimize financial reporting.
- Compliance and Internal Controls:
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
- Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with finance teams, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Financial Planning & Analysis.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders such as controllers, auditors, and tax professionals.
- Provide support and assistance to other departments as necessary.
**Salary**: Up to ₹600,000.00 per year
