Job Responsibilities
**Job Summary**:
The Deputy Housekeeper assists the Executive Housekeeper in managing the housekeeping operations, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, maintenance, and guest service. They help in leading the housekeeping team to maintain the overall hygiene and aesthetics of the property, contributing to guest satisfaction and comfort.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Housekeeping Operations**:
- Oversee daily housekeeping operations to ensure timely room readiness, cleanliness, and hygiene.
- Monitor and inspect guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and other assigned spaces.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining housekeeping procedures and standards.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations, especially with Front Office and Engineering.
- **Team Management**:
- Supervise, train, and motivate the housekeeping team, including room attendants, public area cleaners, and laundry staff.
- Assign daily tasks and manage team rosters to ensure optimal manpower utilization.
- Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and training new housekeeping staff.
- Address any performance or disciplinary issues within the team.
- **Inventory and Supplies**:
- Assist in managing the housekeeping inventory and supplies, ensuring stock levels are maintained.
- Coordinate with procurement for timely ordering and restocking of cleaning materials, linen, and guest amenities.
- **Guest Services**:
- Ensure guest requests and complaints regarding housekeeping services are addressed promptly and efficiently.
- Maintain open communication with guests and staff to anticipate and fulfill guest needs.
- Regularly review guest feedback and implement improvements to enhance the overall guest experience.
- **Safety and Hygiene**:
- Enforce safety, cleanliness, and hygiene standards as per the hotel and IHCL guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including fire and emergency procedures.
- Support the implementation of eco-friendly and sustainable housekeeping practices.
- **Budget and Cost Control**:
- Assist the Executive Housekeeper in preparing and managing the housekeeping department's budget.
- Monitor expenses and implement cost control measures to optimize the department’s financial performance.
- **Maintenance Liaison**:
- Work closely with the Engineering department to ensure prompt repair and maintenance of housekeeping-related issues in guest rooms and public areas.
- Report any necessary repairs or maintenance requirements to the appropriate department.
- **Training and Development**:
- Assist in developing and conducting regular training programs for housekeeping staff on cleanliness standards, guest interaction, and safety protocols.
- Keep the team updated with IHCL policies, standards, and best practices.
Job Requirements
- **Qualifications**:
- Diploma/Degree in Hotel Management or related field.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role within housekeeping in a luxury or five-star hotel.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
- Knowledge of housekeeping standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Familiarity with housekeeping software and tools.
