The communications and advocacy officer for Asia will coordinate and support International Crisis Group’s outreach in Asia to governments, media, civil society and international and regional organisations, with the aim of conveying and disseminating Crisis Group’s analysis and policy recommendations on conflict-related issues. The officer will work closely with the Asia program director and deputy director, as well as the advocacy and communications departments. The position requires an excellent understanding and knowledge of conflicts in the region, an existing network of contacts among governments, media and civil society actors in the region; an established track record of working with media and of designing and implementing advocacy activities; and proficiency in the use of social media and audiovisual materials.

**Responsibilities**:

- Establish and maintain regular contact with media representatives and advocacy targets across the region, particularly with regional correspondents and representatives of governments and international and regional organisations;
- Design and support implementation of a communications and outreach strategy for the Asia Program as well as targeted advocacy activities, in close coordination with the program director and deputy director as well as with Crisis Group’s advocacy and communications teams;
- In collaboration with the communications team in Brussels, lead in designing and implementing communication plans for the launch in the region of Crisis Group reports and other key publications (including contributing practically to the preparation of multimedia pieces, op-eds, video, podcasts, social media diffusion, etc);
- In coordination with the advocacy teams, lead in designing and implementing advocacy plans for the launch in the region of Crisis Group publications, and assist Asia Program team in the planning and practical delivery of targeted advocacy events;
- Assist in designing and implementing public and private events aimed at discussing and promoting Crisis Group’s analysis;
- Support fundraising activities, in collaboration with the program director and Crisis Group’s development department.

**Requirements**:

- At least a bachelor’s degree;
- Minimum 5 years’ work experience in communications and/or advocacy, particularly in Asia;
- Existing network of contacts in governments, media and civil society organisations in the region;
- Knowledge of conflict issues and good understanding of the political landscape in Asia;
- Experience of working with the media, preferably including giving interviews;
- Experience with social media/networks;
- Experience with production of audiovisual materials desirable;
- Excellent verbal and written fluency in English (proficiency also in an Asian language will be considered favourably);
- A record of publishing in English desirable;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Availability for travel;
- Capacity to innovate.
