Carrier One is hiring a Unix systems administrator to work on their US and Canada Internet Service Provider network and Colocation Datacenter products. Primarily you will be working with internal ticketing and task lists, tier 2 escalations for customers who have servers hosted with us, and internal systems administration duties including scripting and automation.

Work at home. You must have good reliable Internet service, preferably Fiber, and solid electrical service or long running backup power. Salary listed is for an 8 hour shift, preferably during the day time in India time zone. If you are unable to have a high quality video interview, that means your Internet connection is probably not good enough to perform your work through it every day. Please test your video camera, speakers and mic before the interview time to make sure it is all working properly

Certain flexibility is available such as M-Th 10 hours a day instead of M-F 8 hrs. May occasionally need to perform some work on a weekend during a maintenance window.

Prior skills you should have:
Familiar with multiple flavors of server Linux distributions such as Debian, Ubuntu, Rocky Linux, Almalinux (CentOS derivitaves). Also, hypervisors such as Proxmox, VMWare ESXi, Unraid, KVM. Windows Server experience is also a plus.

Intimate knowledge of Linux kernel tuning, init subsystems such as systemctl, syslog daemon, logging, intrusion detection systems, IP firewalling.

Experience with advanced scripting in Bash shell, also scripting in some other popular language such as Python, Lua, or whatever you use to get automation tasks done. Prior use of Ansible is a huge plus.

Being reliable and dependable each day to work promptly on your shift, giving several work days advance notice in case of leave whenever possible

Pay: ₹40,000.00 per month
