Shift Incharge

Responsible to plan for the mechanical maintenance activities for the respective sections.
- Responsible for the execution and the quality of mechanical maintenance work to be carried out during shift operations
- Prepare, implement and ensure adherence to planned & preventive mechanical maintenance (PM) schedule for the respective sections
- Ensure timely and cost effective procurement of parts, components, spares and services required and manage inventory.
- Oversee capital procurement and shutdown and implementation of continuous improvement, safety and cost saving initiatives.
- Lead a team of Mechanical engineers and technicians.

Critical Tasks

MANDATORY- KRA’s and Key Activities

1.Plan for breakdown maintenance in consultation with the Maintenance Head and the Operations team.

2.Review Operations plan of SMS and prepare the Maintenance plan for respective sections in consultation with the Maintenance Head

3.Plan the annual maintenance calendar for preventive and predictive maintenance for respective sections; Analyse and review equipment performance with Maintenance Head.

4.Prepare the plan for spares and consumables required for Mechanical maintenance and provide the same to the Maintenance Head

5.Ensure MTTR & MTBF are maintained within agreed limits in all 3 shifts.

6.Ensure proper day-to-day scheduling of men and necessary resources. Assign and review shift schedules and rotations for all shifts.

7.Ensure timely breakdown maintenance services are provided to the sections by the shift team, review the breakdowns, recommend solutions and interventions for complex issues

8.Analyse faulty parts, take repair vs. replace decisions based on multiple considerations such as part life, cost, machine criticality etc.

9.Review history cards to analyse aging of spares / service history, recommend maintenance activities that can be performed to prevent breakdowns

10.Perform cause and effect analysis in cases of machine breakdown, to identify the origin and root cause of failures; take measures to prevent repeat incidents

11.Provide inputs to shift supervisors and oversee adherence of detailed mechanical maintenance checklists of all equipment (for example furnaces, machines pumps, equipment etc.)

12.Interact with the operations team, maintenance shift in charges, review log sheets to understand the frequent breakdowns, corrective actions taken, measures to avoid breakdowns and provide necessary inputs.

13.Ensure maintenance activities are carried out as per defined checklists, review and ensure necessary documentation is completed and maintained as per standards

14.Coordinate with Commercial on evaluating the best vendor for spares / consumables for special equipment

15.Review and provide inputs on equipment and spare parts drawings to enable procurement

16.Ensure that the team is adequately trained on the safety guidelines and has received required PPE. Monitor processes to ensure that they meet safety parameters and book unsafe conditions to be highlighted to the management.

17.Motivate the team to work on Kiazen and QCCs in a dedicated manner
