Microsoft’s Cloud and AI group is at the forefront of cloud computing and artificial intelligence, driving innovation and large-scale AI implementation. The Customer Experience (CX) data team within this group is dedicated to fostering a data-driven culture. Our machine learning team conducts applied research in ML/AI, developing and deploying cutting-edge algorithms for various business scenarios. We collaborate closely with teams across engineering, finance, business planning, and sales and marketing, contributing to Microsoft's cloud-first vision.

**Responsibilities**:
As a Principal ML Scientist in CXD, you will play a pivotal role in driving scientific excellence and building scalable ML solutions. You will:

- Bring structure to ambiguous business problems, decomposing them into scalable solutions.
- Translate business requirements into concrete deliverables, including design, development, testing, and deployment of distributed ML services.
- Provide thought leadership to invent and implement scalable predictive and prescriptive models.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver value to stakeholders and products.
- Work with large volumes of data to solve real-world ML problems, contributing to our MLOps platform or standalone products.
- Contribute to global impact through collaboration with diverse teams.

**Qualifications**:
**Basic Qualifications**:

- Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, physics, or related field with a focus on machine learning.
- Overall 15+ yrs of exp and 10+ years of experience in AI, machine learning, and deep learning in industry and/or academia.
- Proficiency with open-source tools like CNTK, TensorFlow, MXNet, Caffe, and OpenCV, as well as big data technologies like Hive, PySpark, SparkR, Databricks, etc.
- Outstanding research track record demonstrated through academic publications and services.
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
- Proven record of delivery in both industry and academic contexts.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- 10+ years of experience in AI, machine learning, and natural language processing in industry and/or academia.
- PhD in computer science with a focus on machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, or natural language processing.
- Demonstrated scientific thinking and inventiveness, with a track record of thought leadership.
- Solid software development skills are a plus.
- Knowledge and experience working within cloud computing environments such as Azure or AWS.
- Highly motivated to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.
