The Role - Skytap is looking for a curious and proactive Technician to join our Infrastructure team. Our Infrastructure team provides the foundation upon which Skytap builds its successful IaaS and Cloud Services business, and operates the internal hybrid cloud that enables our broader Engineering team to develop the Skytap Platform.- As a member of the team, you will assist in the deployment, troubleshooting, and error remediation of the hardware and software systems that comprise our internal cloud. You also will respond to alerts and provide first-line troubleshooting for services we’ve deployed into public clouds. Your response will include following standardized troubleshooting workflows that are established by the Infrastructure team. These workflows will sometimes require you to file and track tickets with our vendors, and to determine the correct escalation paths for non-standard issues. When appropriate, you will participate in physical interventions like disk swaps or cabling/resets, either directly, or by directing a remote-hands proxy.- Your Responsibilities:- Collaborate with internal service teams to resolve infrastructure issues - Perform hardware validation and interact with Compute, Networking, and Storage teams - Contribute to ongoing maintenance of a large, geographically dispersed VMWare vSphere infrastructure - Support, maintain and sustain storage solutions based on NFS, iSCSI, and ZFS - Troubleshoot and repair hardware defects on x86 and IBM Power servers and hardware components (CPU, RAM, RAID controllers, storage devices, network interfaces, power supplies, etc.) - Participate in the administration and maintenance of Skytap global infrastructure health, including responding to alerts and diagnosing and recovering from service-impacting incidents - Collaborate with the Infrastructure Networking team on configuring and troubleshooting WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, switches, and security and opening provider tickets, as appropriate - Follow standard workflows to respond to alerts for services we operate in the public cloud - Track outages at the provider and communicate timely status to appropriate internal stakeholders - Escalate and communicate non-standard issues to the correct internal engineering staff, including paging our internal oncall rotationYour future at Kyndryl Every position at Kyndryl offers a way forward to grow your career, from Junior System Administrator to Architect. Who You Are Your Skills: - 3+ years technical experience and strong knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems - 3+ years experience performing hardware deployment, management, and troubleshooting preferably with HPE, Dell, and Supermicro; experience with IBM Power systems is a plus - Scripting experience using Bash/Shell - Experience working with Virtualization/Cloud technologies, such as VMWare (preferred), OpenStack, AWS, Azure - Experience with configuration management and orchestration using ansible and puppet - Proficiency in monitoring and logging tools such as Zabbix, InfluxDB, Kapacitor, Splunk, and ELK - Familiarity with network configuration and diagnostics, including Software Defined Networks - Understanding of security concepts and technologies, including authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA), encryption, and server hardening - working knowledge of Jira and Confluence or other ticketing and documentation tools - Some experience working with ISP's or other utility computing providers to raise and track trouble tickets - Some familiarity managing resources in "cloud native" environments such as AWS or Azure (E.G., you've operated a small service in these or other provider, or you've completed AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials or AzureAdministrator Associate training).
