**Job Title**: Bakery Pastry Chef

**Reports To**: Head Chef/Bakery Manager
**Department**: Culinary/Bakery
**Job Summary**:
The Bakery Pastry Chef is responsible for preparing a variety of baked goods, pastries, and desserts to meet the bakery’s high standards for quality and creativity. The role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for creating exceptional baked items.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Pastry and Bakery Production**:
- Prepare and bake a wide range of pastries, bread, cakes, cookies, and other desserts.
- Experiment with new recipes and techniques to innovate and diversify the menu.
- Ensure consistency in taste, appearance, and quality of all products.
- **Recipe Development and Customization**:
- Follow and adapt recipes to meet customer preferences or dietary requirements (e.g., gluten-free, vegan).
- Collaborate with the team to develop seasonal or event-specific menu items.
- **Kitchen Operations**:
- Operate and maintain bakery equipment, such as ovens, mixers, and proofers.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the workstation and adherence to food safety standards.
- **Inventory Management**:
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, and coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely replenishment.
- Minimize wastage by implementing efficient production practices.
- **Customer Service and Custom Orders**:
- Assist with custom orders, including designing cakes and pastries for special events like weddings or birthdays.
- Interact with customers to understand their needs and provide recommendations.
- **Team Collaboration**:
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow.
- Provide guidance or training to junior staff and apprentices as needed.
**Key Skills and Competencies**:
- In-depth knowledge of baking techniques and pastry arts.
- Creative flair for designing aesthetically pleasing and unique desserts.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper kitchen hygiene practices.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- Any Qualification.
- 1+ years of experience in a bakery or pastry role.
- Expertise in decorating cakes, creating chocolate sculptures, or making artisanal bread is a plus.
**Work Environment**:
- Early morning or flexible shift hours depending on production requirements.
- Physically demanding role, requiring standing for long periods and lifting heavy items.
