
Import/export Sales Executive

The Import/Export Sales Executive is responsible for driving sales growth by managing and expanding the company’s international trade activities. This role involves developing new business opportunities in import/export markets, maintaining relationships with clients, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with trade regulations. The Import/Export Sales Executive will play a key role in meeting sales targets and increasing the company’s global market presence.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Sales Development**:
- Identify and develop new business opportunities for the company in international markets, focusing on import and export activities.
- Generate sales leads and convert them into successful sales, expanding the company’s client base.
- Meet and exceed sales targets through proactive selling and account management.
- **Client Relationship Management**:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, ensuring satisfaction with the company’s products and services.
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients regarding import/export sales inquiries, negotiations, and order fulfillment.
- Provide excellent customer service by understanding client needs and offering tailored solutions.
- **Negotiation and Contract Management**:
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions of sales contracts with international clients and suppliers to maximize profitability.
- Draft and review import/export contracts to ensure they align with both client requirements and company standards.
- Monitor contract performance to ensure that both parties fulfill their obligations.
- **Market Research and Strategy**:
- Conduct market research to identify trends, pricing strategies, and competitive dynamics in global markets.
- Develop and implement sales strategies to penetrate new markets and increase the company’s market share.
- Provide insights into market conditions and recommend adjustments to product offerings or sales approaches.
- **Compliance and Documentation**:
- Ensure that all international sales comply with trade regulations, including customs, tariffs, and export control laws.
- Prepare and manage all necessary documentation for import and export transactions, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
- Coordinate with customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure smooth shipment of goods.
- **Coordination with Logistics Teams**:
- Collaborate with the logistics and supply chain teams to ensure timely and efficient delivery of products to international customers.
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively address any delays or issues that may arise.
- Ensure that the logistics team is aware of customer delivery requirements and coordinates shipments accordingly.
- **Financial Oversight**:
- Monitor payment terms and ensure that payments are received in accordance with contractual agreements.
- Work closely with the finance department to manage financial transactions, including credit terms, invoicing, and currency exchange rates.
- Track sales performance and generate reports for senior management.
- **Reporting and Analysis**:
- Provide regular reports on sales performance, customer feedback, market trends, and competition to management.
- Analyze sales data and recommend strategies for improving sales and profitability.
- Track and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) related to import/export sales activities.
**Qualifications & Requirements**:
- **Education**: Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
- **Experience**: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in import/export sales or international trade, with a proven track record of meeting sales targets.
- **Skills**:
- Strong knowledge of global trade regulations and customs processes.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple clients and projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in sales software (e.g., CRM systems) and trade documentation software.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- **Certifications**: Certifications such as Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) or Certified Export Specialist (CES) are advantageous.
