Key responsibilities of Nursing Supervisor:
Essential Functions:
l Handing/taking over reports at various shifts about new admissions, cases in critical areas, special investigations, surgery, death, and any untoward incidents.
- Checking attendance and punctuality in wards/departments at the start of various shifts.
- Check the deployment of manpower and ensuring smooth function.
- Check on duty assignments and daily nursing care plans.
- Visit all new admissions, discharges, pre and post-operative patients, VIPs, critically ill patients, and attending to complaints if any, making thorough rounds of the assigned patients.
- Going on daily ward/department rounds.
- Attend to emergencies and untoward incidents in the hospital and making a detailed report.
- Assisting in organizing essential materials, nursing appliances for stock, and daily use.
- Improve professional and job knowledge of staff by incidental teaching and conducting regular classes.
- Create awareness among staff in crisis management in the ward/ department/institution, e.g., “Code Blue,” orange, yellow, gray, etc.
- Orient the new staff and molding them as per institutional requirements.
- Prepare a consistent report about critically ill patients, VIPs, and any untoward incidents, and submit it to the nursing office.
- Coordinate and ensure the smooth functioning of the department.
- Check the weekly duty rosters, weekly offs, and leave recommendations of the staff.
- Perform any other work as and when assigned by the superiors.
- And any other work assigned by superiors as per work exigencies of work.
- Direct and supervise the service activities of nursing care, plan and instruct patient care activities.
- Be responsible for the wards 24 hours a day, in the sense that the evening and night nurses report to her, and she is responsible for assigning other shifts.
- Supervise and evaluate work performance in terms of patient care, staff relations, and efficiency of services. Maintain a safe environment for patients.
- Provide orientation programs for new staff.
- Instruct unit personnel in new nursing care techniques, procedures, and equipment.
- Assist in developing and administering the budget for the nursing unit.
- Go on rounds and observe the nursing staff.
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Assess patient care requirements on each unit by making rounds in the Emergency Department (ED) and all other areas of the hospital, according to departmental need/activity.
- Develop and implement a staffing plan for the shift based on patient acuity, patient census, and available staff.
- Serve as a resource to staff for solving clinical problems.
- Assist staff in efficiently utilizing staffing resources to meet patient care requirements and other professional responsibilities.
- Provide for immediate follow-up, documentation, and communication of incidents to the appropriate Authority
- Respond to emergency situations (Code alerts) and assist as necessary.
- Coordinate with the security supervisor to ensure hospital visitor policies and other safety measures are implemented effectively.
- Act as a resource in identifying and/or solving administrative or operational problems.
- Anticipate actual/potential problems that may occur on their shift and set shift priorities accordingly.
- Work collaboratively with nursing and ancillary staff to solve problems in a fair, consistent manner.
- Contact appropriate management personnel not presently in the hospital for assistance with problem-solving, timely and appropriate manner.
l Maintain good public relations with patients’ relatives and the public, and project a positive image of the hospital.
l Evaluate nurses’ performance. Oversee the nursing department as a whole, monitor varying factors, and provide reports to the nursing director on productivity, cost, and other information as required.
Ensure nurses on duty comply with the uniform and dress code policies of the hospital
To care of administrative matters pertaining to patient admissions, discharges, and death protocols, etc.
- Ensure NABH standards are followed by nurses.
- Coordinate with the nursing superintendent and ward in-charges.
- To ensure RMO’s on duty attend to patients.
Pay: From ₹45,000.00 per month
