A pathology technician's job is to assist pathologists in performing laboratory tests and providing diagnoses or treatment recommendations. Their duties include:

- **Preparing samples**: Cutting, staining, and preparing tissue samples for microscopic examination
- **Operating equipment**: Setting up, operating, and maintaining laboratory equipment and instruments
- **Recording results**: Calculating and recording results, and ensuring data accuracy
- **Assisting with procedures**: Assisting with autopsies, surgical procedures, and other tests
- **Handling waste**: Handling and disposing of biological and chemical waste safely
- **Managing samples**: Organizing and managing samples, specimens, and laboratory records
- **Ensuring compliance**: Ensuring that all tests and procedures comply with regulatory standards
- **Communicating findings**: Communicating findings to pathologists and other medical professionals
- **Training others**: Training or assisting other technicians in using lab equipment
