We are seeking a Legal and Compliance Officer for our Bangalore office.This is an exciting opportunity to join Norway's first unicorn and to get a deeper understanding of what it takes to work for a cutting edge legal tech team as an inhouse legal counsel.

**About the team**

Cognite’s Legal team is responsible for providing legal advice to all of the company's business and corporate activities as well as handling the corporate compliance function. We are seeking a Legal and Complaince Officer that will report directly to Cognite’s General Counsel.If you enjoy working in a lean and flexible team with various and challenging tasks, this is the opportunity you are looking for.

**Focus Areas**:

- The role will entail providing global legal assistance related to Cognite’s overall activities with the main focus on:

- Contracts
- Support all business departments with various legal tasks
- Manage the design and monitoring of Business Integrity
- Safeguard that Cognite complies with its outside regulatory and legal requirements as well as internal policies
- Privacy, GDPR
- SOC2/ISO 27001 Compliance
- Support how we handle Enterprise Risk

**Some of the specific responsibilities will be**:

- Prepare, draft and negotiate various types of contractual documents with a focus on software licensing and related services
- Working with legal tech tools to automate the legal department
- Participate in tender preparations, clarifications and negotiations
- Assist with the implementation and enforcement of internal company policies
- Deal with complex commercial and business matters
- Provide direction for, review and recommend approval of Business Integrity and Compliance plans, ensuring alignment between the various teams at Cognite
- Document and report findings from assessments and incidents to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner with plans for improvement and monitoring of corrective actions
- Maintain and communicate the Code of Conduct, the Anti-Corruption Policy, the Third Party Representative Policy, GDPR Policy etc.
- Company wide compliance and ethics training
- Obtain and redistribute KPI’s within compliance
- Annually review corporate responsibility and ensure compliance with legal requirements and internationally recognized reporting guidelines
- Customer, partner and vendor background checks and compliance due diligence
- Support the India office and the global legal team with ad-hoc legal tasks
- Ad-hoc support of other staff functions such as finance, corporate development and P&O.

**Additional experience that is a benefit, but not required**
- Experience with GDPR, SOC2, ISO 27001 and EU data protection and privacy regulations
