**JOB DESCRIPTION: RESEARCHER - GENDER RESOURCE CENTRE (GRC)**
**PREVENTION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN
**ABOUT SNEHA**
A secular, Mumbai-based non-profit organisation, SNEHA addresses preventive and promotive healthcare with a special focus
on women and children. SNEHA works on four large public health areas: maternal and child health,, adolescent health and
sexuality, public systems partnership and prevention of violence against women and children.
SNEHA works towards health equity with communities on behaviour change interventions on health by changing
knowledge, attitudes and practices to access public health services as well as working with public health systems to provide
quality services.

SNEHA recognises that, in order to improve urban health standards, their initiatives must target both care seekers and care
providers. The work is primarily with communities residing in informal urban settlements to empower women and
communities to be catalysts of change in their own right and collaborate with existing public health systems and healthcare
providers to create sustainable improvements in urban health.

SNEHA’s Program on Prevention of Violence against Women and Children (PVWC) aims to develop high‐impact strategies
for primary prevention, ensure survivors’ access to protection and justice, empower women to claim their rights, mobilise
communities around ‘zero tolerance for violence’, and respond to the needs and rights of excluded and neglected groups.
The Program prioritizes enhanced co-ordination of the state response to crimes against women through a convergence
approach that works with government and public systems to reinforce their roles in assuring basic social, civil and economic
security.

With an experience of working for the last two decades on primary, secondary and tertiary interventions on violence
against women and children and backed by theory-driven research, SNEHA is embarking on initiating a virtual Gender
Resource Centre (GRC). The insights gained in varied aspects of the program, continuous research to tailor our interventions
according to the needs of the community and survivors, and longstanding data management have led to development of
resource materials such as the program model, training manuals, modules and protocols for different topics in community
mobilisation, counselling, work with stakeholders and have built evidence through published papers. Recently the program
has launched the GARiMA package of care on mental health for survivors of domestic violence and modern slavery which
will be followed by trainings offered to use the package by orgnisations working in this area. The scope of the Gender
Resource Centre will develop to consolidate knowledge, offer training packages, certified courses and to enable replication,
scaling of part or the whole model on prevention of violence against women and children to contextualise the work on
gender-based violence in India and outside. SNEHA’s vision is to develop the Gender Resource Centre in the next three
years.

**THE PROFILE**
The profile includes content consolidation, conducting secondary and documentation for the Gender Resource Centre
activities to contribute to its development and advancement.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

The Researcher will work on four packages:
**_Work package 1 _**

**Content consolidation**

a) Create a repository of SNEHA programme materials and papers within SNEHA
b) Create a repository of SNEHA programme and external training materials
c) Consolidate national and international frameworks related to gender-based violence
d) Create a repository of models practiced in rural, peri-urban and urban areas
e) Initiate creation of a sub
- domain website
f) Organise the content i.e. materials, papers, knowledge based models on the sub domain website of SNEHA.
g) Collate and categorise the different themes on GBV, mental health, RMNCH and others arising from the secondary

research

**Secondary research**

(a) Desk
- based research on tools and metrics for improving evaluating SNEHA programs on gender-based violence
(b) Desk-based research tools and metrics for integrating indicators and metrics for integrated work on RMNCH and

GBV indicators
(c) Review of latest developments in policies to combat GBV, research and data collection including methodologies at

the national level
(d) Research on gender planning, gender budgeting, gender analysis and audit of policies and programs
(e) Research on course materials and curriculums
(f) Plan and design strategies for research sub-studies and data analysis, as well as structures and content of analytical

reports

(a) Draft high-quality secondary research reports, recommendations and presentations on the GRC work in coordination
with SNEHA team.
