We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Retail Banking Technology CTO.

Department Background:
The Retail Banking [RB] Technology CTO is responsible for providing leadership to the RB Technology aligned Infrastructure, Cloud and DevOps teams whilst ensuring effective Management & Technology Controls compliance of RB Technology related services.

The Opportunity:

- The person in this role will be commercially astute, an excellent communicator and able to partner strongly with executive level business stakeholders (Managing Directors and their teams). They will work with business leaders to define technology strategies, create new solutions and drive a culture of continuous improvement. They will also be partnering with other DBS and IT counterparts, at various executive levels of the organisation including in-country leadership (CEO, COO, CIO)
- This role will work collaboratively with the Central CTO team, strengthening partnerships, ensuring alignment, and enabling RB Technology business success

What you’ll do:

- Drive the DevOps strategy in RB Technology, seeking opportunities to share DevOps platforms, tools, techniques, etc.
- Develop, execute & evolve the technology strategy for on-prem and external cloud infrastructure for RB Technology in line with the central CTO strategy.
- Engage with teams across RB Technology to ensure that technology solutions are agile, secure, scalable, and highly available, in accordance with our goals for and Group IT’s ‘Digital Acceleration Programme’
- Proactively gather feedback from engineering teams in RB Technology to understand how the CTO organization can best support their successful delivery at pace.
- Ensure that technology teams are well-equipped to deliver high-quality services, providing training and development opportunities where required. Collaborate with business leaders and stakeholders to understand their technology needs and translate those needs into actionable technology roadmaps.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies and make recommendations for their adoption where relevant. Foster a culture of experimentation, innovation & continuous improvement across IT.
- Manage relationships with key technology vendors and partners, with a clear commercial lens. Lead the RB Technology CTO organization to successful delivery of business outcomes.
- Strong commercial awareness looking for ways to drive down RTB costs through automation, less TOIL and efficient use of Infrastructure.
- Promote the Net Zero strategy for CTO embedding best practices and consistency across the organization.
- Drive Technology Risk & Control agenda in RB Technology to ensure compliance with Regulators.
- Work with Regional CTO leaders to capture regional business requirements whilst ensuring global consistency. Manage the associated budget, with ongoing focus on personnel, vendor, and capital expenditures.
- Build strong working relationships with Product Lines and business leaders in WPB IT to ensure teams meet expectations and contribute to achievement of business goals. Support and facilitate innovative and experimental software development work to test new ideas, within bounded cost and time frames.
- Provide leadership, vision, and direction for the RB Technology CTO organisation. Work with product management leadership to design, manage, and/or execute product roadmaps. Line Management and leadership of a small team.
- Manage talent, playing a key role in performance management and compensation processes, role and competency definition, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
- Partner with CTO HR to create learning and development opportunities aligned to the organisation’s skill and capability needs, and to provide rewarding career paths for software Enablement staff.
- Facilitate collaboration and partnership across teams and stakeholders.
- Build and maintain the broad and diverse set of skills required to run the RB Technology CTO Practice. Establish a robust communication and support mechanism across CTO, Technology and Business teams
- Ensure there is a strong colleague development framework in place including succession planning, diversity balance, nurturing, coaching, skills development and career progression. Proven industry experience of running a CTO team including processes, technologies, challenges, strategy
- Expertise in Strategy, Business Planning, Governance and Stakeholder Management. K
