**Job Summary**:
The **Horticulture Executive** is responsible for the management, maintenance, and enhancement of the horticultural and landscaping aspects of the organization’s outdoor spaces. This includes overseeing the planting, cultivation, care, and general maintenance of plants, lawns, gardens, and other green areas. The role also involves ensuring that landscaping projects are executed according to schedule, budget, and quality standards, while promoting environmental sustainability.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Landscaping & Horticulture Maintenance**:
- Oversee and ensure the maintenance of outdoor areas, including gardens, lawns, flower beds, shrubs, trees, and other green spaces.
- Supervise the planting, pruning, and trimming of plants to maintain a healthy, aesthetic, and vibrant landscape.
- Implement pest control strategies to prevent damage to plants and ensure a healthy ecosystem.
- Regularly inspect outdoor spaces to identify and address any maintenance or landscaping needs (e.g., watering schedules, fertilization, soil quality).
- **Project Management**:
- Plan, execute, and supervise landscaping projects, including garden design, plant installations, and seasonal changes.
- Collaborate with designers, contractors, and other stakeholders to bring new landscaping projects to life, from concept to completion.
- Monitor project timelines and ensure all tasks are completed within budget and according to established standards.
- **Sustainable Practices**:
- Advocate for and implement sustainable horticultural practices, such as water conservation, organic gardening, and environmentally friendly pest management.
- Ensure that landscaping materials used are eco-friendly and contribute to long-term sustainability.
- Maintain awareness of the latest trends and best practices in sustainable horticulture and landscaping.
- **Plant Care & Selection**:
- Conduct research and recommend appropriate plant species based on climate, soil type, and aesthetic needs of the site.
- Supervise the procurement and selection of plants, trees, flowers, and other horticultural materials.
- Monitor plant health and address any diseases, pests, or other issues that may affect plant life.
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of plants, ensuring they thrive year-round.
- **Team Supervision & Coordination**:
- Supervise and provide guidance to the horticulture and landscaping team, including gardeners, groundskeepers, and maintenance staff.
- Ensure that team members have the necessary tools, equipment, and training to perform their tasks effectively and safely.
- Coordinate work schedules to ensure efficient and timely execution of horticultural tasks.
- **Inventory Management**:
- Manage the inventory of plants, tools, fertilizers, pesticides, and other horticultural supplies.
- Place orders for supplies and ensure proper storage and handling of materials to prevent wastage.
- Maintain records of inventory usage and report on stock levels regularly.
- **Budget & Cost Control**:
- Prepare and manage the horticulture department’s budget, ensuring that expenses remain within allocated limits.
- Monitor costs associated with landscaping projects, plant care, and maintenance, and identify opportunities for cost-saving without compromising quality.
- **Client & Stakeholder Communication**:
- Serve as a point of contact for clients, tenants, or senior management for all horticultural and landscaping-related inquiries.
- Provide expert advice on plant care, garden design, and overall landscaping issues.
- Ensure that all stakeholders are informed about the progress and results of landscaping projects or maintenance activities.
- **Health & Safety Compliance**:
- Ensure that all horticultural activities adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain a safe working environment for the team by ensuring proper handling and use of equipment and chemicals.
- Regularly conduct safety training sessions for staff.
- **Documentation & Reporting**:
- Maintain accurate records of all horticultural activities, including plant care schedules, planting lists, pest control measures, and maintenance logs.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on the condition of outdoor spaces, project progress, and team performance to the horticulture manager.
**Required Qualifications**:
- **Education**:
- A Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
- Certification or formal training in landscaping, gardening, or a related field is an advantage.
- **Experience**:
- At least 2-3 years of experience in horticulture, landscaping, or a related field, with proven expertise in garden maintenance and plant care.
- Previous experience managing or supervising a horticulture team is desirable.
