**Purpose of the Role**:
The purpose of this role is to deliver database services within IT Services providing DBA expertise, and 24x7 support to all services leveraging database technologies hosted on premise and Azure.

The job holder will ensure the successful delivery of database services as a coherent and proactive practice across all services, guaranteeing it is not considered as a ‘check box exercise’, while interacting with Application, Development and Operational teams.

**Key Deliverables/Responsibilities**
- The DBA is responsible for the following activities:

- Perform operational DBA duties, including installation, database upgrades, patching, environment cloning, implementing backup/recovery and monitoring procedures, capacity planning, and performance tuning and site failover.
- Design, architect, build SQL Server & Oracle platforms determining business requirements to planning and deploying test and production systems.
- Take part to 24/7/365 operations in a business-critical environment.
- Must be comfortable working with global teams and multi-cultural environment.
- time response, quality delivery and resolutions.
- Support continues improvement through optimizations and automation of the systems and processes for existing and new database services.

**Experience Required**

**Essential Technical Requirements**
- Minimum 8-10 years of related experience
- Significant knowledge of SQL Server on-premises and Azure SQL services, this will be your passion and you will be required to get under the bonnet of a live system, coming up with innovative solutions.
- Good working knowledge with Oracle database technology on Windows and Linux platforms.
- Good understanding of Oracle backup and recovery RMAN/Data pump
- Good working knowledge of High Availability technologies i.e., SQL Failover Clusters & Availability Groups
- Have worked for at least 5 years in a 24/7 environment.
- Strong understanding of relational database architecture concepts
- Strong performance tuning and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple deliverables, both scheduled and unscheduled, like deployments, builds, scheduled batch activities or jobs, issue/incident management, problem management, etc.
- Ability to communicate technical issues to stakeholders as well as to communicate business drivers to engineers.
- Proven analytical abilities and using data/facts for decision-making.
- Good working knowledge of database technologies leveraging IaaS & PaaS.
- Desirable Skills: Azure PaaS (SQL DB & Managed Instance), T-SQL, SSIS package deployment
- Competencies specific for this role:

- Four years university degree or college diploma in the field of computer science and/or 6 years equivalent work experience.
- Good understanding of ITIL & Service Management.
- Possess the necessary formal presentation skills, and excellent work ethic.
- Experience and understanding of risk management and risk mitigation activities.
